The Cirrus LXi remained unchanged for 2000, but the base level LX model returned. The LX had been temporarily discontinued after 1997, but it was brought back for this year to fill the void left by the retired Plymouth Breeze. Both Cirrus models were available in four new colors, and child seat straps were added in the backseat. Once again, the Cirrus sedan was available with two engine options. The LX returned with a new 2.0 inline four cylinder engine, providing 129 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. The LXi was powered by a 2.5 liter V-6, good for 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. This V-6 was available on the LX as an option. Performance and fuel efficiency varied little from engine to engine. Both sent the Cirrus from 0 to 60 mph in about 9.5 seconds. The four cylinder achieved a 20/28 mpg rating, while the V-6 fell to 19/26. Both models were plagued by reliability issues. Common problems included brakes, electric motors, struts, ball joints, and excessive rust.

It's got great power and good gas mileage. It is a safe and fun car to drive. the brakes are good. I just wish the parts were American made and not foreign...All in all I would still recommend this car.
February 9, 2012Nice riding car with nice power from it's 2.4L engine. The engine revs up really nice when the gas pedal is pushed down. The trunk space is quite roomy. Interior is nice and has held up good over the years of kids and animals in it.
October 21, 2010I bought this car right after i graduated which was in 2005. I have done reallly little work to it other than the regular service jobs. It performs really well, and handles really well on curves. Very reliable vehicle.

June 25, 2008This is / was my wife's car. She bought it before we were married, so I had no influence in its purchase. It has been a very reliable car for me the last 2 1/2 years I have been driving it. It does well on gas, and doesn't scream family sedan.
