Why did my car shut down

The Chrysler Cirrus was only available in one trim for 1999. The LXi model was once positioned as the more upscale version of the sedan, and it would return to that status with the arrival of a new LX in 2000. This LXi included a revised instrument cluster, new exterior badging, and standard chrome wheels.
The Cirrus was powered by a 2.5 liter V-6, which generated 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. Despite a seemingly sufficient power supply for a 3000 pound sedan, the Cirrus could not break the 10 second mark for 0-60 acceleration. Fingers were pointed at a hesitant four-speed transmission which did not offer the desired response when the pedal was pushed to the floor.
The 1999 Cirrus also featured a softer suspension. The prior system was tuned stiff for extra road-awareness and agility, but that was now abandoned in favor of a more silken and forgiving ride feel. Whatever the Cirrus lost in handling, it made up in overall ride quality. Drivers were also very satisfied with Cirrus fuel economy: rated at 19/28 mpg.

Trouble free and dependable. Drove mine well over 200,000. Should not have traded it.
Just normal maintenance was all it needed.

I just bought this car as a vehicle to drive around town and to drive for the winter. It was a very good deal for only $400. The performance is pretty good, the V6 engine goes pretty good, the acceleration is one of the best things about the car, braking is very good, and handling is better than I thought it would be. The build quality is pretty good. I find most of the materials used on the interior are high quality, and the exterior is good as well. It is an alright looking car, I installed some rims I had laying around and a few other aftermarket parts. So far it has been pretty fun. I would recommend this car to anyone. This car had been taken on family road trips, driven all over the east coast and has been in storage during deployments, other then being in need of a new paint job due to scraches it is a great car!Sep 25, 2010

The car was bought used in 07. It had on 90,000 km and only currently has $99,000. It was $3000 when purchased and is a very reliable and east car to drive. Although the car is no match for my C10 it is a great winter vehicle and daily driver.Nov 24, 2009

Voiture achetée à 86000 km au compteur pour 3500$. Super ben entretenue, 0 rouille à grandeur du char. Avait jamais été conduit l'hiver, ça va être son premier cette année, pis j'ai hâte de voir comment ça va se comporter. Heureusement, j'ai un démarreur à distance. If you own this car with the engine life <80,000 mi, then its a very reliable, gas-saving car. I got from southern new jersey to southwestern virginia on one tank. gets of the line pretty well, very powerful engine, and great acceleration.Jun 09, 2008

The only complaint I have for the interior is the cup holders at the front are very badly designed... they are in the way of pretty well anything... it handles great, and for passing other cars it has very good acceleration for a V6.Jan 08, 2008
