It gots its name from the racing mecca, the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, and though it looks like a high-end luxury sedan (which it is) and conjures up memories of big-boat cars from the '60s (and it's still roomy enough for five or six), the 1999 Pontiac Bonneville is also a bit of a sports performer, with a zippy engine and performance suspension that add a little spice to the space. The 1999 Bonneville was pretty much unchanged from 1998. It came in two trims. Both the SE and sportier SSE came standard with a 3.0-liter, 205-hp V6 engine with a standard 4-speed auto tran. The SSEi package for the SSE offered a supercharged, 240-hp V6 and driver-select 4-speed auto transmission. The SLE package added all the sports suspension, tires, and extra features of the SSEi to the SE trim, except for the supercharged engine. ABS brakes and dual front airbags were standard across the line. Standard features on the SSE, such as leather seats, power-adjustable front seats, audio controls on the steering wheel, and power heated mirrors, were options on the SE. Plenty of sitting room, legroom, and headroom are highlights of the 1999 Bonneville, and owners especially like the big trunk and comfortable seats. Adjustable seats and an armrest/trunk pass-through are favorite features. The power of the supercharged engine makes driving fun and exciting, and drivers praise the smooth handling and good fuel economy. They say you get a lot of features and performance for a lot less money than other comparable cars. Low points are the persistent problem with a cracked manifold, that Pontiac never fixed in this generation of Bonnevilles. If it has rained or snowed, the trunk lid lets in a lot of water when it's opened. Some report problems with the fuel regulator. Minor complaints mention wind noise and flimsy cupholders.

This Bonneville will certainly go down as one of the best vehicles ever to roll off the line. I Love Everything about this ride! What a pleasure to drive! She handles so well in all areas on the roadway and no weather can slow or stop her. Leather seats and all the bells and whistles!Aug 25, 2013

This car has the best performance, ridability, functionality, and the most comfortable seats of any car I have ever driven. It has had some interesting mechanical failures under the hood, pulleys and latches, but in general has been bulletproof. I love the heads-up display, the 12 way power seats, the rear seat legroom. I really enjoy my car! I bought it used five years ago, and the only thing that I have needed to replace was the belt, back brake pads, and fuel tank. It is recommended that I get new tires in another 8,000 miles. I have over 120,000 miles on my car. It runs great! I trust it! It is big and roomy! Accelarion, braking, handling is no problem. The only thing that is annoying when you drive 65 it shakes, but if you drive less than that or 70 it doesn't shake. It has done that since I bought it.... It also makes decent gas milage.Aug 31, 2009

performs dece, it's a smooth ride, slides through stop signs on ice sometimes.. it's an all around solid car, haven't gotten in any accidents but it hasn't needed any repairs yet. it's black cherry colored, but i think the previous owner or dealership forgot to primer it before giving it a new paint job cause paint is chipping in 1 small section for no reason... My dad got this car as a demo back in '99 and he left the car for me when he
passed away when I was a freshman. I love the car as much as he does. It might
be a full-size, but the acceleration is awesome. 0-60 in 7 seconds. Roomy for
long road trips, love the engine, FUN TO DRIVE, and Bose Sound System is
absolutely amazing. Might be getting another car soon but this is the

1999 Bonneville w/ Supercharge won't start :(
I have a 1999 Bonneville with Supercharge (supercharge belt is not connected though!). My car won't start. No sound when turn ignition. Changed the battery post bolts, starter, and alternator....still did the random choice of not starting. It starts sometimes and then sometimes it don't. So can't pinpoint why and when. Battery checked good. What else could it be now?
