A 1.4 Ghia X old mans car, but it was the quickest car I'd owned.Went well, handled well. Sadly ruined when some pillock rammed me into a tow truck puling a bus. Insurance was oddly expensive but can't fault the car as until the accident it was great.Nov 20, 2010

I got the 1.3L fiesta in plymstock, it had 21000 miles i bought it for £1500. It has great handling, deep blue in colour. it has cassette player but instead of replacing with cd player, i'm going to get a adaptor for my ipod. It came with new tyres and brand new exhaust. everything is manual, but there again it's a old car and we are in England. Sep 08, 2009

My 1999 Mk4 1.25 16v Sport Ford Fiesta Ghia is my first car. I'm pretty lucky to have it for the price I bought it. A mere £995! With only 57000 miles on the clock too and nothing wrong it was a beaut.
Anyway, the car is beautiful to drive; rides well and is comfortable. It has an electric adjustable height driver seat, making it ideal for short or tall drivers. I'm just over 6ft but I have plenty of head and leg room.
The engine is smooth and quiet, and works wonderfully with the gearbox fitted; the gears quiet literally snap in with minimal effort. The engine is very nippy too when you apply some pedal pressure ;) The 1.25 Sport is equiped with 16v, making it quite sufficient to get to places pretty quick. My model has standard 14" alloys with pretty low profile tyres. They are pretty wide too for the size of the car.
Moving inside the car, it has a lot of extras, being of course the luxury (Ghia) model. It has heated front and back windows, electric mirrors, electric windows, air con, air recycle, CD radio, driver airbag, sunroof, central and remote locking, power steering and more. The boot is surprisingly big for a hatchback. I managed to fit camping equipment for 4 people and travel to the site no problem.
The outside has metallic silver paint, front sport spotlights, alloys, colour coded bumpers and door guards, and 4 doors. All in all this car is the PERFECT first car, not only does it have the basics, but it has the luxury of cars which cost a LOT more.
The build quality is starting to show, with the odd rattle but it is 10 years old so has held it pretty well. The engine is quick and easy; what most kids look for in their first car. The car is very cheap to run, which you expect with a small engine. Insurance for me was high, but that's because I am 18 and male. But at the same time kind of cheap for what it was. If you are a woman this car would be very VERY cheap on insurance (you lucky people).
To sum it up, if you are looking for a first car, go for a Fiesta. With a mix of luxury, speed, style, and popularity, it is a teenagers dream. I'm pretty sure any teenager would be happy with this car, I know I am.Aug 12, 2009

Not the biggest or prettiest of cars ive owned but defiantly
the best choice. I had the 1999 4dr LX once I replaced the
stereo, put some 6x9s and a sub in it it was a respectable
drive, this is the ONLY car never to let me down, never
bothered to service it and after replacing standard wheels
with 15in alloys it handled like a dream and believe it or not
the 16v 1.25 Zetec lump was incredibly responsive all round
top choice of motor thanks Ford!Jun 28, 2009

bought it as my first car back in november 2006. for a first car its done me proud. the performance isnt fantastic as its only a 1.25 ltr 16v, but its nippy in lower gears when it wants to be. had a little play with bits of it in my spare time, and generally always have it looking nice and clean and shiny. One of the last Mk5 models. With the Focus esque inspired type front nose. Had the 5 door Zetec model. Not the worlds best car and sounded tinny, but boy, what fun to drive !. It's 1.25 16v Yamaha develpoed engine was a joy to push hard. Creature comforts not the best, but attractive looking fascia and had to negotiate a cd player in the deal to buy the car. Was a short term ownership, but regret selling it on.Jul 27, 2008

Admittedly, this is my first car. So i love it, needless to say! For 1.25 Fiesta, with skinny tyres, it's great fun to drive, cornering just seems fun, no matter what the weather's like. Acceleration is admittedly not great, but it is a 1.25. As a result, it is reasonably frugal. The 38 litre tank lasts me about 2 weeks, the servicing and MOT cost, well, bugger all, and parts, which don't need replacing often, are cheap, and easy to come by. My only gripe is that the tweeters in the doors rattle when bass notes hit them. But this easily sorted (just unplug them!)Jul 18, 2008

1999 Ford Fiesta 1.8 Diesel.
It's not a bad car, but she has done her time. Useful in city traffic, easy to handle and to park, but, that's all. Not really performing on speedway.
Gas mileage is not really bad, but not brilliant indeed. It's about 15 Km per liter.
Maintenance isn't cheap, expecially if you go to Ford Authorized Mechanics. If you have your own mechanic, then, you can save some money.Jun 29, 2008

Hi I have a mk4 fiesta It worked fine but a week ago it starte playing up you put the car into gear and it doesn't really react to the fact it's in gear untill Uve got the revs to redline it will then start to pick up and the revs go back down it was doing it every now and then and now it doing it every time it goes in gear untill Uve red lined it what is this??
The heater in my 1999 ford fiesta only blows hot air irrespective of the setting it is placed on. Firstly is the problem the coolant valve and secondly how do I determine the problem correctly in order to effect a repair. Probably related, there have been on at least two occasion water ingress into the passenger foot well from the ventilation intake housed here. Can anyone please help. many thanks from Matthew
