I like everything about the V7 1998 VOLVO wagon the lines are tight. Looks sporty the wheels aluminum alloy just everything about it the square back in front the wipers for the headlights it’s all shop. It looks very nice on the road very sharp, but different color best car ever ever owned Hand, five speed five cylinder … Never had any mechanical problems or anything else, but I use a high test, always 93 octane and mobile hundred percent synthetic for the mobile filter micro filter always change it at 2000 miles. Sleek low-profile appearance, very tight construction; feels very safe. Turbo makes the car very quick off the line. The motor requires full synthetic oil so it is more expensive at the point of oil changes. The car has great equipment.Oct 03, 2014

I love that this car is safe but, I love it more due to it having a turbo 5 cylinder that is faster than my wife's V6. I don't like that the more it seemed to me that I fixed up something, my windshield would break, or replace the radiator and the gas tank would leak, this car has a gremlin, but I love both of them the same.Jul 09, 2014

I bought it for $2,000 off the original owner. So far no issues and have put a 1,000
miles on it with no major issues. Power wise it has sport mode and it will surprise
you with how big the car is that it can actually get up and go like it does and with
the low pressure turbo and the straight 5 it actually does really well!. It is the
ultimate sleeper because kids in Honda's will roll up and act tough and you can blow
them off the line and burn em! I have got 24 mpg around town and about 28 mpg

I love the way the car drives. The space is great for family and pet. Gas is wonderful throughout the week for this car. However, the person that had this car before, did not take care of it and left little problem that may cause huge ones. I believe it can be saved and have many more miles to go. This is a good looking car that drives smoothly and safely around town and on all kinds of roads. It is comfortable to ride, is easy for the kids to climb in and out, and has plenty of power to climb up mountains passes. On more than one occasion the AWD performed perfectly where V8 pickup trucks got stuck. The backseats split in the middle and fold flat to accomodate what you need to carry. It had no problem moving a bunkbed and 2 mattresses after a visit to Ikea, and the kids were in the car too. Oct 25, 2011

Have had the car since it was new - 13 years now. Very little trouble - although the radio consol lights have failed recently and it apprears that you will have to repalce the radio if you want the lights back.
Good gas milage - 26-27 on the highway

It is quit harmless car, nothing that surprises you, it is a stable family car that
works from point A to point B in almost all weathers. My car is a red one a V70 GLT

While it has a turbo, and gets 236 brake horse power, it's a Volvo, and there fore very heavy. Performance wise I'd put it above average. You can feel that the car has a lot of power. The weight also means I only get 22 MPG. It had 2 problems I was aware of when I bought it, a broken ABS module and a broken thermostat. The ABS module was mailed to someone who repaired it, and I bought a new thermostat and installed it myself. The only other problem I encountered was a broken engine mount. It caused a terrible rattling sound inside the car, but was a relatively easy fix. The car's look isn't too exciting. It's a Volvo station wagon. The exterior is as average as you can get. The interior, however, is great. It lies somewhere between luxurious and economical.Jul 04, 2010

Volvo invented the safety belt hundred years ago and this is my first Volvo (that sentence didn't make sense). Keept it for a few months, driven mostly by my cousin "again". Its all family love and if you do love your family, buy a Volvo St Wagon. It is safe with it's swedish built steel and comfortable for longer roads. Mine wasnt that fast, but you cant get the "R" version with the singel turbo. Get a full exhaust, chip, air intake and bigger turbo on that thing, and you're looking at over 300 hp with a touch of nice torque.Dec 22, 2009

Economy is waste of time - I can get better from the Lambo, blows most cars away at traffic lights, excellent load space, can tow an elephant with it, four wheel drive just takes you anywhere, comfortable, handles well, good fun when you want fun and normal when you need it to be.Sep 15, 2009

This is the car I would want most, and I am lucky to drive it. The turbo is great, it's fun to drive, and the AWD means I can go anywhere I want. I love my car so much! My perfect car. 250hp, 0-60 6 sec, i had it for a year and fell in love with it. I made the finish and the quality shine like it was when it was new. I bought 2 new sets of rims, new steeringwheel, completely modernized the front, refurnished the interior, new blue backlight in the dashboard, wing on the back, gave it a paintrefreshment, repainted the hood, new exhaust with rececat and alot more details. The performance of my Volvo was amazing for a station
wagon that thing had to go from 0 to 60 in 6 seconds! the
build quality was, it was the safest car in the world, you
could drive it into a tree and it would still work later. the
exterior was ugly while the interior was plush and
beautiful. the car is the best car to drive it has the space

Performance not great but the 5 cylinder engine sounds fantastic. Loads of room, easily swallows family of 5 with room to spare. Very reasonable running costs for a big car averaging 28mpg. Most comfy car i've ever owned but still handles well enough to give a fun drive.Mar 23, 2009

I have always used stickshifts.
I Love to cruise it around, and it fits my dog in the back.

I'd imagine these cars are NOT for people who drive cars that are 10 years old. Probably best as brand new, dealer-maintained cars. Although I love the acceleration, braking and handling, and overall highway comfort at crusing speeds, this car breaks alot. I've had to do multiple repair jobs on tons of secondary components (A/C, Door Controls, Emmissions Systems) but the drivetrain has been solid. Parts are hard to get, expensive, and difficult to install. Not a great car to work on.Apr 28, 2008

The V70 is offered in a variety of trim to suit various life-styles. GLT, T-5, and the R. The GLT is offered with a low-pressure turbo, the T-5 with a high-pressure turbo, and the R; high-pressure turbo along with AWD. A very smooth and quiet car, you can fit a whole mass of things in it, or transport 4 or 5 adults in fairly luxurious style! Very nice 5 cylinder engines, but long gear ratios mean relaxed cruising at the expense of acceleration. Brakes are awesome, it's not so keen on the corners especially at low speed, quite stable at high speed cornering though.Jan 13, 2008

We have a little over 100000 miles now and my wife and I still enjoy the car. Dreading when the time comes to replace it. We have had absolutely no problems in the last eight years. 1998 Volvo V70 XC AWD 2.4L, 5 cyl. I recently pulled the engine and transmission in order to replace old seals and gaskets. The car has 225,000 miles and was leaking everywhere, but other than that, the car was running fine. I put the engine back in, and the car turns over strongly, but won’t fire. There is no spark getting to the plugs so I checked the distributor wire coming from the coil. There was no spark either. I have checked the crankshaft positioning sensor and the camshaft positioning sensor. Both check out good. I checked all fuses to make sure none were burnt. All good. I double checked all connectors to all sensors and cleaned them with connector cleaner to ensure good contact. I double checked the timing and alignment marks and even put a compression tool in the number 1 cylinder to make sure that it is on top dead center. There are no codes although I am using a regular code reader not specifically for Volvo's. I have hit rock bottom. Any help on why I am getting no spark? I really need this car to run. Jacob
