My 98 civic throw a code for transmission range sensor but my car starts right up everytime could the sensor still be bad or just a faulty code

I love this car, I had to learn manual transmission to drive mine. It's perfect for me since I'm single. Car responds favorably to maneuvers and brakes are perfect. I hate the check engine light on mine, its been on for a very long time, have no idea what it is, so it's very frustrating.Jul 21, 2014

Love the car overall jit gets very good gas mileage, it is very reliable, do not like the fact that is does not have ABS brake t tends to skid and slide f you have to come to a sudden stop. I just wish it was in great shape and not a salvageFeb 05, 2014

Perfect little car. Fuel efficient, good car for the winter. It performs fairly
well for a little 4 banger. It's fairly cheap to maintain and parts are cheap

Can get 40.9 mpg! Fun to drive. Low maintenence costs. Few squeaks. Excelent handling. Beautiful styling. Comfortable seats. Good ergonomics. Would rather have mechanical door locks and windows. Had Eibach springs and Motegi wheels when purchased. Missing intake, radio, and side trim when purchased. Pops out of second gear (most likely bent shift fork).Oct 27, 2011

Its great on gas being a 5-speed and it rides smooth. Heat works amazing, definately a fun daily driver. Not too slow but not too fast either. Handles pretty well and breaking and acceleration are both decent, could be better with upgraded brakes.Aug 31, 2010

I have had this car for about 7 years now and i am still proud
to say that i own a honda civic coupe. I have the manual
transmission and love how it feels when cornering the only
problem that i have had is with the breaks they have squeaked
fro a long time i have had the wheels realigned and and
breaks replaced and ask the honda dealer to check that specifically but nothing has worked. i had a friend who had
the sedan of the same year and he has the same problem
aside from the noise there is no problem with the brakes so i
just live with it. i love driving this car fast it is really quite fun

This car is cheap to fill, and you can drive as much as you want. you can easily roll the mileage over. A little bit of love and this car will pay itself off over and over again. Plus you can make it look really good.Nov 11, 2009

the suspension work makes it a lot of fun to take around turns along with the sound of VTEC kicking in is amazing. Its a little slugish off the line, I would really love the money for a B18C5 engine swap. I also want some Honda Fit HFP rims before next spring with some Toyo Proxes T1R rubbersNov 05, 2009

drives well, kind of loud because of the lame exhaust pipe. few dents and scratches. Euro tail lights, I don't like them but other people might. Get great gas mileage. Cheap repairs. A beast, can withstand a lot of force haha.Jul 12, 2009

Overall a great car. Amazing gas mileage, I can get an average of 30 mpg. It's a five speed so I enjoy driving it and for a 4 cylinder it has decent acceleration. I would recommend it to anyone as a first car or just one that's fun to drive around in.Jul 12, 2009

The car is only fun to drive if you have a manual, civics aren't exactly made for performance or anything else other than good gas mileage and a long lasting car. They're really easy and cheap to modify so I guess that's where it makes up for not having anything interesting/performance oriented on the car. Nothing special, but I love my little car.Jun 17, 2009

It was a DX...crank windows, manual locks....
Other than that, for all of you who ever saw my car, knew that I loved it!!! It also sucked going up hill with the A/C on!! 75,000 miles when I traded it in for my RSX in 2003. First Honda we owned which is crazy since my dad has worked for Honda for so long!! I struggled w/ my cars -- American-made -- until I bought this very near Pre-Approved
37k mi used manual in 2002. It now has nearly 130k mi on it w/ a new clutch and
radiator being the only major costs besides the usual brakes and tires and fluid
replacements every 3k mi. I really love the reliability and dependability of this car. I'm
hooked on Hondas ( I would buy a Lexus if it weren't a Honda for me) due to the reliability
and dependability factors, ease of maintenance and the fact that they last and last, and

Runs well and you can depend on it. The standard 1.6 liter, 106 hp motor may not be the fastest in town, but it has pep and it gets you there. Others may modify it with aftermarket parts, but the person who chooses to drive it "as is" will not be disappointed.Apr 09, 2008

rough idle and boggs out (wants to die) when gas is used
So my car was idling rough and I did the throttle position sencor and map sencor to but after I did that I made my car worse. now it wants to die at first I though it cu;d be clutch but obv I was wrong. maybe I did the tps wrong? not sure just learning about Hondas and cars so I'm just not sure what to do with this car its so FRUSTRATING

My civic only starts when i tap on the distributor while cranking....?????
I have a 98 civic y8 v-tec coupe, i just changed the coil which helped but now the car will cut off after idling for a few minutes and sometimes the car will cut off completly and i have to get out and bang on the distributor while my buddy cranks it and it starts right up the rotor button looks 60% and so does the cap but they dont look bad enough to cause an issue like this...just put new plugs, new wires, fuel filter and fresh oil change alont with new ignition coil and ignition fuse. Please help!!!!!!!
