The 1996 Toyota Supra saw very little change from the previous year. Because of emission standards, the six-speed manual was discontinued on the turbo, leaving only the automatic.
The 1996 Toyota Supra had a 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engine with 220 horsepower. The turbo came with a twin turbo-charged engine with a 320-horsepower engine. The non-turbo had a five-speed manual and was available with a four-speed automatic. For fuel economy, the 1996 Supra got about 17 to 23 miles per gallon.
Drivers love the 1996 Supra for its unique looks and performance. Enthusiasts say it is one of the most customizable cars around and many show and race their Supras. Some driver complain that the car costs too much to maintain and repair, and others find the back seat to be much too small. Despite its flaws, this generation of Supra is sought-after and has a very high resale value.

The Supra is an all around great sports car. Handles nice, plenty of power and at
the current power level, 420 hp is plenty of power my needs. It's very comfortable
cruising around town, or on the highway. It doesn't decent on gas for a
performance car and it's easy to maintain. It's not too hard on my wallet and 90%
of the mechanical work is stuff I can handle at home in my garage. I really enjoy
the Supra, probably one of the nicest and smartest car choices I've made in my

Not the greatest low end outta the 2j toyota has definatly made a beautiful car
here and none the less even tho it lacks a bit of power its still fun as hell to drive.
The handeling in these things is amazing for a fairly long wheel based car. Love it
to death will definatly be sad when its time to le er go.Dec 03, 2012

it has a 3 ltr 2jz-ge motor this car is awesome never had a problem with it. its a non
turbo model but it has alot of power very quick accel, brakes are strong and its
handling is perfect its an awesome looking car. the only problem with it is there is

The had a beautiful body. The interior was good .The engine was good,that means
good acceleration.Low maintenance cost which was great and gas mileage was
great.I must say the car was fun to drive.

The supra is simply amazing. The performance if the car is simply amazing as it can handle just about everything u throw at it. If you get the turbo model of course. As for the looks. It's GREAT. Built and created in 1994 and still to this day looks better then many and people still break there necks and whip out there camera just to say they saw a supra in there life.May 27, 2010

For a car that was built in the mid 1990s it performs
amazingly. The car is well put together and beautiful.
Gas prices can be a little steep but Toyota's will last

170+ top end. 5 sec acceleration. Braking is rubbish if it's standard Japanese import.
Handling is excellent if wheel size isn't messed with too much.
Build and engineering quality is superb. Needs good servicing to keep it tip top.
It's cost about £1500 in 18 months on a top service and tyres.
MPG is 22 - 25 if not caned.

Performance - Could do with upgrading the brakes but, hey they still work very well. It's not the quickest off the mark but it doesn't hang about either, open her up and hit 5500 rpm, woohoo...lol
Build Quality - I can't fault it really. A nice quiet ride until i get the exhaust changed..lol, all the gadgets (electric everything and air con).
Appearance - Interior is in good condition, could do with a little clean and a hoover. Exterior is ok, a few lttle trolley dings that i'd like to sort out, nothing major.
Cost of ownership - It doesn't seemed to have had anything wrong with it yet, it's Japanese and it'll just keep going. Fuel economy is another matter. It costs about £70 to fill up and you only get about 200 miles to the tank, thats about 17 miles per gallon.
Fun factor - Buy one. They're great fun as long as your carefull, can be a little unpredictable in the wet, arse end likes to step out...lol

A real head turner, not a car for the faint hearted, great fun to drive, great acceleration, handling in the corners is amazing. Not the most economical car to run but still, great looking car with the right body kit and can be tuned up and over 1000 bhp if you have the money...!!!Aug 10, 2008
