i first bought this car off a friend that just sat in his driveway and sat there since 2005 when it was inspected in NEW YORK STATE until i bought it off him on 5-12-14. and i was shocked for it to just start just fine after sitting there since 2005 untouched till the day i bought it. amazing car when i bought it with a stock 4 CYLINDER, the cars interior was trashed and had a broken windshield. its a great car and its FAST!!!!Jun 12, 2014

i dont like the fact that this car has so many problems atleeast once a month. the car drives goodwhen it wants to but other then that its an okay car for a beginner. i love my car but at the same time i am tired of getting her fixed every month. i never had a car with such problems. IF the ford is not a mustang then its a no go for me in the future.Jun 03, 2013

Quick little car but not a lot of overall power. It brakes well and handles very well. I havn't done any major repairs yet and there are very minor squeaks which is to be expected for a 17+ year old car. I have always loved the styling of the 2nd gen probes. A couple of my friends don't like the wrap around hatch window style but I don't mind it. Its got a 2.0L so its decent on gas for a semi sporty car. This is my first 5-speed so I have alot of fun driving it.Aug 04, 2012

i love this car, one problem front wheel drive. but once i looked past that i love her more and more every day, she can handle like that one night stand you think about every night. and i have upgraded her engine to the klze curved neck which is a big improvement for any daily driver like my self Jan 31, 2012

Performace is lacking with the 2.0l motor. altho this car is fun to drive.. but putting that aside it gets great mileage for what it is..33mpg is what im able to get with mine. and so far i have not had to fix anything (unlike the dodges ive had)Jan 20, 2012

the style is different from many cars, it has cheap made interior, but the performance of the car makes up for it, gas mileage is average, it is very fun to drive, bolt-ons are a must have for the best performance.Apr 17, 2011

I got this baby a few weeks after my car accident. Some "uninsured" guy pulled out right in front of me & totaled my Mazda3. So..after the insurance company 'almost' paid off the Mazda, I needed another car. So..my bf found a clean 1995 Ford Probe GT for a reasonable price, we went out and test drove it, and haven't looked back since. It was definitely lacking performance at first because it needed a whole new exhaust. It now has a 2 1/2" exhaust from the flex-pipe back. The flex-pipe and all the way back needed to be replaced. I also have a custom muffler with dual burnt tips on it now too. And we eliminated the cat. After that...it made a HUGE difference. It gets up and boogies now. It practically stops on a dime too & having the sway bar links fixed makes a another huge difference. It's handling is awesome. Besides the exhaust, it hasn't needed any repairs. But it does need a new tail light and they don't make after market ones either. You basically have to breakdown & go to your local pick-a-part junk yard to grab another one. Gas mileage isn't too bad either. Mine is the 2.5 V6, so it definitely doesn't get great mpg, but it's around 21 mpg average. Not too bad. But to me, it's one cute little peppy car. :) . I'm going to try and park it for the winter though. Ohio's winters suck ass!!! Thanks to how much salt we go through. And if it does get put away for the winter, it'll most likely get it's engine overhauled. It's definitely my little Probie Project. :) Nov 24, 2010

Noisy, and cold in the winter even with the heat on, its made of plastic, however, its low to the ground and fun in the winter snow and ice. It also gets really good gas mileage from around 28-33mpg and that seems good for its year to meOct 18, 2010

This is my third Probe. My first being an 89 GT Turbo, then a 95 SE, and now a 95 GT. They handle extremely well, braking has never been a problem and acceleration could be better but is definitely not too shabby. The build of these cars is pretty solid. I have heard that they usually have distributor problems but I have never had a problem with them. Repairs made are those that have been due more to age than any defect of the build. They are well balanced and are fairly sought after for tuners and mods. The appearance is sleek and definitely well thought out. This car is 15 years old and can still garner attention. This car is definitely fun to drive, I love taking it out on a mild day and letting the windows down and opening the sunroof and cranking the CD player all the way up and just going for a drive. This is my 3rd probe so there you go...They handle well, have decent acceleration for the I4 and the v6 is awsome. Its low cost to me to maintain since I do all the work. Overall, Im in love with the carMay 01, 2010

The steering box stripped out making it impossible to drive. The part is roughly $500 and for a mechanic its roughly 5 hours to get to the part. Overall it was a great car, way fast without the turbo, I can't imagine if it did.Apr 12, 2010

A good car in terms of power to weight and drivability. the motor was a 2.5 inline 4 with dohc. The avrage gas economy was great and its cost in matenence was not bad. It was a blast to drive and definatly drew attention. Mine was black with grey interior. The bucket seats were comfortable and the stock radio put out good sound. The only issue i had was the weak transmission that most are known for, a few months after purchase it needed a new transmission and would have cost me more than the car was actualy worth to fix. i have to say i miss this car.Dec 07, 2009

Typical performance from a jap engined car needs tobe at high RPM to get the most out of it. Build quality seems good, but due to its age it will go wrong and when it does can be expensive. Generally cheap to to run, especially if ur more economical with the accelerator pedal than I am. Great fun to drive either around town or through country lanes, holds well due to its wide tyres, sports suspension and low centre of gravity.Apr 04, 2009

It is a fun little car that can get up to speed if you give it the needed distance. Good gas mileage, the pop up lights are pretty cool, cloth interior. brakes worked well never had a problem with them.Dec 22, 2008

It's a Ford. Cheap build quality inside and out. The engine is from Mazda, so it'll probably outlast the rest of the vehicle. I only paid $1000 for it, which was probably too much. I hope this thing lasts until my other car is paid off. It's a Ford. I am not a fan of Ford quality- or lack thereof.Sep 20, 2008

Had two of these, a 2.0 and a 2.5 V6 24V. The 2.0 was very economical really and gripped forever. the 2.5 gave you the extra power it needed but didn't feal as balanced. I love the sensor that kicked in at 4200 revs and made it feel like a turbo was fitted. If only that was there through the whole range. Car was slated by many, but I have always loved pop up lights and american syling. It different and looked expensive to a non motorhead. Performance- With it's fine 24-valve Mazda K-series V6 and lightweight Mazda GE body, the Probe has okay acceleration. Where it really shines, though, is in handling. I cannot even describe how well the thing handles. Build quality- You will hear about a lot of people having problems with the car. If the car was well cared for, and if you have the 5-speed manual transmission, then it will easily give you 250,000 miles of loyal service. Appearance- I think it's gorgeous. I love every smooth, flowing curve on the whole car. However, it is certainly a "like it or hate it" sort of design. Cost of ownership- A well-kept Probe GT can get upwards of 30 miles to the gallon. Enjoy. However, replacement parts are not cheap. Order them through Mazda, or look in junkyards, if you're comfortable with that. Fun factor- Never mind if the car's fun to drive. It's fun just to sit in. Taking corners at ridiculous speeds is exhilarating. Go buy one now.Jul 14, 2008

ok the performance isn't there but it does handle like a go kart and stops really quickly. if on water slow way down before trying to turn since it is so light. the build quality is pretty good and the appearance would be so bad if it had a fesh paint job and body kit.May 06, 2008

Of course this was going to be the replacement for the Mustang but as we know the Mustang will always be a pony car and not a ricer.lol The car I owned was running 193-97 with some tail light and front bumper changes. You had a choice of either the 2.0L 4 Cylinder engine in the SE or the 2.5L V-6 in the GT. They both had a choice of either a 4 speed auto or a five speed manual trans.when you first get in this car it almost wraps around your body like a sheet which makes you feel at home no matter what you are doing with the car. You could be spinning them in second gear or getting it sideways by pulling the e-brake, the car remains composed with little body roll. I would def rec. getting new tires right off the bat and it will make all the differance in the car and how fun it is and can be! This car is a hatchback and with that comes a truck that seems to match even the very Lincoln Towncar it self in size and depth. The seats fold down 60/40 making it even more handi-capable than it was before. This car came standard with ABS 5 speed trans,AC,cassette AM/FM stereo.flip up head lights,alloy wheels, power windows and locks, and on the GT's there were cut aways for sun-roofs if you ever wanted to install them your self or have them installed.The 2.0L 0-60-8.7 / The 2.5L 0-60-7.3Mar 26, 2008

The car is fun to drive, with a peppy 24 valve V6, and a 5-speed transmission it is a blast. This car is gotta be the best perfomance for how much it costs. Fairly reliable, spend some time to find one that has been taken care of and you should have little problems.Feb 15, 2008
