The 1994 model year brought some notable changes to the Toyota Camry. For the first time, a two-door coupe was offered, to compete with the Honda Accord. Other updates included a passenger-side airbag, a redesigned V6 engine with 188 horsepower and a new automatic transmission that allowed for less hunting between gears.
The 1994 Toyota Camry sedan was available in the DX, SE, LE and XLE trim levels. The new coupe came in the DX, SE and LE trim levels. In addition to the new V6, the old four-cylinder, 2.2-liter engine was still available. Fuel economy was about 20 to 30 mpg, depending on the engine.
By this time, the Camry had firmly established itself into the hearts of the American driving public, who were helping to propel it to the top of the best-sellers list. Drivers rate the 1994 Camry highly for its reliability and its smooth, quiet drive. Some complain about the engine's lack of "pep" and that the backseat is a little too small.

This car was owned by my dad then passed down to me... My dad took care of this car very well with regular normal upkeep. I'm now at 270,000 miles with this guy and its finally demanding big repairs. That's amazing a car even lasted this long with just regular up keep and some love. Oct 31, 2012

this is the best car i have ever owned 270k miles and still going. I have only to do maintenance and replace 2 alternators and a axial what more can you ask for? but the paint is wearing off but the sun roof works and seal still intact Mar 19, 2011

I have driven one van, 3 sedans, and one 2-door car. The Toyota hands down is the better car of the bunch. My 1994 XLE V6 has every single thing anyone could possilbly want in a car.
A/C - check
Radio - check
CD Player - check
Power everything - check
My only complaint is the seats are not very good. But, it's a 17 year old car for cry'in out loud. Oh and the fuel economy sucks. But, in 1993 nobody cared about getting good fuel economy.Jul 27, 2010

This is a very reliable car and it makes a great first car. Good
acceleration and handling, and the brakes work great, haven't crashed
cause of toyotas gas problems yet. Its got a few kinks like knobs
falling off and a broken door handle but thats mainly from the
previous owner. It looks and drives great for a 94, only 80,000 miles
on it. It gets really good mile to the gallon. I haven't done the math
but I fill it up every 2 weeks so I can't complain. Its not standard or as
fast as I want it to be, but I can still pull some fast and the furious

The best car I ever owned. Handled better than the BMW 3 series. Only one real problem, at 86K the suspension was starting to go. All new suspension, etc. and has run like dream ever since. Currently has about 150K on it.May 30, 2010

Its a great car overall, i just had an SUV so I dont really like the ride height and size, but it does what it needs to. This car was NOT built for racing so it is pretty sluggish, but the fuel economy makes up for all of that.May 10, 2010

the performance about this car is amazing it handles soo well and it has good acceleration. Its great on fuel but the only problem i have had with it is that the head gasket went. The exterior has 18 inch rims two hot dogs for the exhaust a nice sub in the boot and a pod filter. Great car to drive for a 1st car buyer and im the second owner in of this car.Oct 03, 2009

Performance wise... the acceleration is definitely better the the 4 cyl. version. Braking is good. But the steering is definitely numb.
The exterior styling is just boring just a regular sedan. Interior styling nothing to be excited about it.
This car can't say is fun to drive. It's like a piece of reliable electrical appliance, get to u from point to point.Sep 21, 2009

Work car, need I say anymore? 5S-FE Not the greatest of engines and had an economy tune. Was brilliant fuel wise and very reliable. The car was a typical camry. I recommend this car to a cleaner or anyone starting a family.Jun 29, 2009

Generally the car runs great. It has an undiagnosed problem where it doesnt start sometimes and it'll occasionally shut off when I'm stopped, so I'm hoping I can figure out whats wrong with it before it starts doing something else (It has over 191,000 miles)Jun 27, 2009

bad fast, wont break down even if you tried. freshly painted sunfire red and interior is clean! over 35 miles per gallon, i think and everything runs good, and it will have a new stereo system in a matter of days!May 11, 2009

sharp little car. not much for performance (only a 4 cyl.), but what it lacks in power it makes up for in gas milage. clean body-no rust. int. is ok. paid very little for it ($2000)

Great on fuel, better on long distance.
All services kept up to date, runs well. Drives great.
Not alot of power, but a perfect girls car, for getting around from A to B.

It's OLD, dented, dirty on the inside, and a 4 DOOR. As LONG as I am SINGLE I WANT a 2 door! It is NO fun to drive, no longer has the acceleration of a V6, is STILL expensive on gas even with the price cheaper.Dec 28, 2008

What more can be said about the Camry? After all, it's been one of the best selling cars on these shores for a while.
I didn't own this car for a super long time (who am I kidding...I've never owned any car for a super long time!) and will simply agree with all those who extoll the Camry's overall dependability and quality. But really, folks...it's about as plain vanilla as you can get.Oct 29, 2008

acceleration is poor and braking is shaky at speed, corning its good, suspension isn't stiff enough, too much body roll.
Build Quality is pretty good, had a rebuild since ive owned it, still not perfect. lots of rattles but only when the sub is going.
Body style is good, lots of scratches and dents in the body, the bonnet is bent
mileage is good, about 800 to a tank, other than the rebuild i have not needed to spend money on it

Awesome, Totally reliable, Fun to drive. Excellent abilities, it has never disappointed me since i've been using it for over 4 years, I've refused to buy another car because of its reliability. its unbelievable. Great fuel economy. I took over this car from my father, and from there on out i had nothing but problems with it. I went through three transmissions, a clutch, and lots of brake problems. I loved this car caouse it had the V6 in it. I took it off road and beat the living hell out of it.Aug 20, 2008

I got it in 06 with over 165,000 miles so of course it needed some repair work. Excellent first car, outstanding gas mileage, had a large amount of peeling paint on the hood, but I really didn't give a rat's arse. Stereo, window motors, sunroof all perfectly functional and A/C worked like a beast. Sold it for $500 more than I paid for it about a year and a half later.Aug 04, 2008

this car is a 94 cam and whan i brought it in nov 06 it had 147,000 mls.now it has 151,000 and some change mls on it and so far i only had minor problems that the previous owner didnt do when he was prepparing to sell it.But other than that i had no problems and she rides pretty good.And the small things i had done such as window tinting really get's it a lot of attention plus the coup's body style is hott.But more important for the attention ya gotta keep it clean.May 05, 2007

I bought a 1994 camry XLE V6 with 90k on it. I've had some serious problems. The powersteering pump is leaking and on it's way out. The strut mount towers are have all gone south so any bumps cause major knocking up front. The throttle sticks in cold weather. Despite the owner paying big bucks for "toyoguard" rust prevention, it's still rusting...

I drive a 94 camry and I am loosing all the coolant in the radiator and I cant find where it is leaking at. I had my granddad fix the car and it worked for about one and half months then it started doing the same thing like it did before. I had a new head gasket, head checked three valves fixed, new wires, new distrubitor, spark plugs, valve cover gasket, you name it I had it checked out or replaced. I need to know what it is asap so I can fix it and drive it or sell it.
I have everything from the head up checked out and either cleaned up and used again or it was replaced. I have a lot of new parts put on the car and I need to know what the car is still leaking or burning all the coolant in the car. any help will be great. thanks
