ASR problem in S 500 M/Benz
I own a 1994 S 500 Mercedes Benz. For about 6 months now a ASR lights on. I have replaced throttle and tires but still the ASR lights on. Please help me what could be the cause and how can be rectified. David,

Mine is actually a 1992 but your meter did not go back that far. Love this car. I have owned a W124 - 1991 and this is my second W140. Excellent design, style and comfort. A great highway car. I get excellent mileage. I rum this car on veggie oil ( WVO) that I clean and recycle.Apr 29, 2014

This is a quite a heavy car but still gets excellent fuel economy on the open road. I would hate to think what it would be like in the city.
The self closing doors occasionally need to be reset by disconnecting the battery cable. This seems to be good for a month or more.
This has to be one of the most comfortable cars I have ever driven.
Like all older cars it need regualar service but seems to keep going. I have had it for 3 years now and done some minor repairs. Clutch Fan, wiper switch, ABS computer but that is about it.Nov 18, 2012

Slow and Sluggish, this is what this car is about, but it does get great fuel milage,
30 or more miles per gallon at most times, the build is great, its strong, heavy like a
tank, and remarkably comfortable inside, safe enough for the Kids, and its not fun

VERY VERY VERY FAST CAR.
too fast handles GREAT Top speed is way too hight after removering the Limiter.
Very solid car,no noise as if u were not even driving driving 150 mph as if u are going 50 too quite.
sounds car all over.
interior is nice and classic very comfy.
hard core built.not too bad with gas althought its a V12
shame Too expensive to buy parts and hard to find the parts.

Used this car from the garage that I worked at. One of the best ever built 4door saloon cars made. All electric seats with memory positions eaven head rests electric and rear seats too with sun visores in the back with lights, mirrors and air con controls in the back as well. It had double glazed windows, arials on the back that popped up in reverse to see the back of the car when parking. It had automatic doors that closed themselves on the catch and the mirrors were elecrtic and folded in electrically too, plus they were heated. It had a battery that worked a heater so hot air came out the heater before the car was hot. This may not sound a lot but the car is 16 years old now it was was ahead of its day.Sep 04, 2010

even it is 16 years old, there are many options which are not in new cars and also Mercedeses. I have driven many cars, I have just seen 2008 CL500 is more comfortable. So that only Mercedes S-Class CLS-Class and CL-class can make you feel comfortable like that.
8 brothers are working perfectly in the engine. 320HP can move 2 tones easily. Exactly over 100 km/h, A3 1.8 turbo can not catch it.
it is 16 years old and i just bought this car a week ago, my car only have a few problems; Park assist and powered windows.
W140 has chronic problems that white parts of tail lights become gray and wooden works inside can broken.
100 liters of gas can enough for 600 kms. I think it is not too much for 8 cylinders.

Its a strong car a very good one but it needs to be handled with care not to be driven roughly and it has all electric systems so it shud be driven daily,strong body and fun to drive :DNov 12, 2009

Not a 1994, Mine was a 1986 420-SEL. Pretty Stout for a 4.2 Liter V8. Decent Power. Very Solid suspension, On-ramps and Off-ramps were alot of fun, especially in a car as big as it was. Gorgeous color and body lines. Chrome trim was beautiful. Overall build quality was Excellent. Only down fall was the price of replacement parts, and having to run Premium fuel in it. The performace is great, steering absolutaly emmence. The quality of the car is good as its only needed repairing once or twice.Its not too expensive to own as maintenance is cheap. It is built like a vault. It has features I don't even know how it works (the HVAC cools the fuel line to avoid vapor lock, there are at least two air compressors for the pheunamic systems, the side windows are dual pane and move to unseal when the door is opened). It works well as long as the periodic maintenance is performed. I've had only two unscheduled events (regulator, unbalanced wheels) that I didn't cause.Sep 15, 2008

Love my Car it is rather expensive on fuel returning 12MPG around town and 22MPG on Long Journeys, performance is good for such a large car 0-60 in around 7.5 secs and Restricted to 155MPH (Never been there honest ;-D Interior is well made ever after its 144000 Miles it still looks good. Had no major problems with the car and have covered 15000 miles in it since i purchased it, never broken down. And its a great car to driveAug 20, 2008

I bought a '75 450SL about 4 years ago for $2,500.00 and it did not run. I had it transported home, put a set of plugs in it and it started right up. It has an aftermarket fuel and ignition control system made by Electromotive that was not properly dialed in by the goober that installed it. I contacted tech support for Electromotive in Manassas Virginia and a helpful and capable gentleman named Fred told me to bring it in. He dialed the ECM in with a laptop and since then all has been right with the world. The car is black with a tan interior and has some decent chrome wheels. I have had over 100 autos in my life and none has attracted as much attention as this one. The 4.5 litre runs strong and the car hanles well despite it's weight. I used to restore and drive MG cars but the price of parts was so high that I decided to switch to Mercedes-Benz. I figured I might as well have a little more room and comfort if I'm going to spend a bunch of money. There is nothing like of owning and driving a Mercede-Benz but they are not for the faint of pocketbook. Jan 31, 2007

I have bought a 1994 Mercedes Benz S320 W140 Petrol Automatic, it is in Limp mode. The Throttle body was badly contaminated, due to no air cleaner element .... previous owner removed it. Also... the engine wiring loom I have heard is suspect due to biodegradable insulation materials used... In the process of having a new engine wiring loom made... Will this resolve my LIMP IN MY PIMP?
