Why is my car's exhaust louder then normal with stick exhaust

A passenger-side airbag was the most significant addition to the 1994 Mazda MX-6 sport coupe, which was available in two versions. The base (or standard) MX-6 was equipped with a 118-horsepower, 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine, while the higher-end LS version was powered by a 164-horsepower, 2.5-liter V6. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, while a four-speed automatic was optional. Standard features for the base model included power brakes, power windows, power door locks, and power exterior mirrors, as well as dual airbags, cruise control, a tilt steering wheel, and an AM/FM/cassette audio system. The LS added such features as air conditioning and a sunroof (both new to the standard equipment list for 1994), as well as fog lights, an anti-theft alarm system, and alloy wheels. Options included anti-lock brakes and leather seats (the latter for the LS version only). The MX-6's sleek styling, handling, performance, reliability, and ride were among the positive points cited by drivers. However, they also noted that the car's back seat could be cramped, and some drivers reported that their cars had frequent mechanical problems, especially with the transmission.

I bought the car because I had been looking for this model, they’re hard to find,, I bought it sight unseen except for the photos, plus I flew from SF to Seattle to look buy it . Then drove it home 800 miles. Turns out it didn’t pass smog , I knew what I was getting when I bought it. “My new project!”Aug 17, 2021

While the stock KL has decent power, the car could definitely
use the extra 40hp of
a KLZE. Low end torque is phenomenal as the torque curve is
VERY flat. The
vehicle is extremely fun to drive and is very confidence
inspiring thru corners even
in stock form. With the modifications I have done to the
suspension as well as the
wheel/tire combo the car feels like it is on rails and will be even
better once the rear
sway bar is upgraded. Even with alot of spirited driving and
frequent trips to 8000

Acceleration is alright. braking and handeling are great.
All it has for build quality is hard shifting into second gear.
Leather seats and little rust.
Gas milage is great.

not bad for an old car, i would say its more for luxury than speed.
speed was pretty good for such a heavy car but not for how much fuel it ate
it was pretty fun to drive
attracted alot of attention mainly because it was so loud but i wasnt mad
gotta love my 5 speed
not too good on acceleration or breaking, great handling
great build quality it leaked oil from the oil pan, quick easy, but timely fix that blew the oil pressure switch, also easy fix
bad gas mileage, easy maint.

Car is a dream to drive,good solid and reliable.VERY under rated but brakes SUCK! light on fuel.had car now for almost 10 years(2001-2010)very little problems.Only bad thing about these are the front brakes,although a big brake kit is available!!Sep 26, 2010

i loved this car really light with decent power good gearing so great acceleration. the engine was quite built to handle spirited driving needs a lil engine work for higher rpms to be withstandable. great interior an exterior amazing handling 30 mph corners at 90 with out a probFeb 12, 2010

its fast. and very cozy the sound system is nice. the engine performs well and is fairly fuel efficient. cargo space in the trunk is fairly large. could use more room in the back seat fairly hard to even fit myself there (6 foot 2 inches) Jan 17, 2010

I love my little car. It hugs the road, has great giddy-yup, shifts through all her gears very clean and smooth. She gets good gas mileage bein' a 4-banger, and she has a seriously kickin sound system. Her only problems right now is that her wheels are to big for her because I had to make a hasty replacement after wrecking her and she still has some cosmetic damage that also needs to be tended to.Oct 26, 2009

What do you expect from a old car, lots of rattles otherwise, i love her, it should also be a rear wheel drive monster! If not service regularly, lifters make a noise, Distributor fails and the aircon always leaks gas!
Likes, as sleek as the new cars on the road and still has the power to give most of them a hiding.

the transmission went out at about 150000 so that wasnt good. everything else worked fine though. gas milage was good... i would say it got about 28-30 mpg.. this car was fun to drive especially with the electric sunroofJun 15, 2009

Acceleration is quite good, especially mid-range. Great for apssing on the highway, or merging into fast-moving traffic. The MX-6 can outrun many cars much newer than it. The top speed is also quite impressive, flat and level it will do about 230 km/h. The best part, however, is the handling. It does lean a tiny bit in corners, but it sticks to the road like glue, and you can toss it into a corner at just about any speed with confidence. You'll chicken out long before the car will let go. Brakes are also quite good, being of the 4-wheel disc variety, and allow you to brake later for corners, or slow down when the radar detector starts going off.May 29, 2008

I owned an Mx6 for many years. I loved it. It was great. Honestly the only thing I could have wished for was a few more ponies. Handling, ride, and interior are all wonderful. The styling was great. It looked very similar to 911s of the same era. Just a great daily driver. I miss it everyday.Mar 04, 2008

What do people think when they hear Mazda. They're probably thinking zoom zoom, right. Well thats exactly what the MX-6 brought in 1993. With a displacement of 2 litres, it has plenty of bang for the buck. The DOHC I-4 pushed to the tires 118 bhp and 127 lbs-ft of torque, enough to allow it to slap speed in roughly 6 seconds. No fuel coming through injectors.
I recently did a motor swap on my '94 MX-6. After the change, all six injectors are failing to spray fuel into the engine. I've figured out fuel is getting to the fuel rail itself, but that's it. I know the engine AND injectors are good, as the motor was donated from a '93 that I had been driving up until that point. I've tried changing fuses, the ECU (twice), checking diagnostics (which show no problem) and everything else that I can think of, and still nothing. Any ideas?

it was rattling and sounded as if bearings were bad, it completely stopped spinning and car sounded awful. engine and transmission always have run good. doesn't use oil.
