Hole in exhaust valve
My 1993 civic has burnt a hole in one of my exaust valves on my #3 cylinder for the second time ,I just did a valve job on it about 4 months ago. What is causing this to happen.

The coupe body style was added on all Honda Civic models in 1993, and the EX got a sunroof, power steering and a passenger airbag. The Hatchback model, with seats folded down, provides extraordinary storage space. As always for this compact car, fuel economy and surprising comfort are standard. The only consistent complaint about the Civic is that going uphill is a battle. You can't expect to get everything for less than $5,000.

Has been a great car the year and a half I have owned it. Enough power to be really fun to drive. I happen to know it can get into the 120 Mph range. The LX had the 2nd least powerful engine as well! I drive my vehicles VERY hard, and this one has held up fairly well all things considered! I usually get about 34 Mpg.
Mainly related to the age of the car, but I have had to put some money into it. The shocks were getting a little sad and needed to be replaced, as well as front and rear lover control arms (all of which I did myself). The one big expense was when my transmission crapped out on me. Looking back I should have replaced it myself, but I just had someone put a low miles one in for me for about $1200. I have a sneaky suspicion it was abused before though. I also got mine cheap because the speedo was erratic. I purchased a gauge cluster and transplanted the electrics for $60, and it is good as new!Apr 08, 2014

best year hatch imo.. only thing with these cars is there is squeaks in the rear due to the plastics and loose screws.. easy fixes.. easy to mod, cheap, theres so many parts you can make your different in some way if u look hard anuff or pay the big bucks for REAL jdm parts.. the motors that come stock (Single cam d series) are pretty strong and good on gas. but the fact that you can put a b-h-d-or k series in with ease is a big plus!! the list goes on and on..Aug 29, 2010

This car gets between 33 and 40 miles per gallon. As such, any issues are irrelevant when trying to save money. It takes unleaded fuel. The oil is not synthetic. The ride is not too stiff or too spongy. Instead it's a comfortable ride and inexpensive. Definitely a great car to drive if you don't care too much about appearance or the dirty looks you get from larger vehicles' drivers.Aug 03, 2010

I've had it since i was 15 and it is fun to drive it has been a project for me. It performs good for what it is, it has a sohc non vtec with a built head , ported and polished head,aggressive cam, reflashed ecu, air intake, exhaust, header, sway bars all around, short shifter, lowered, full polyurethane suspension, that's all i can think of , it looks pretty good, most people say it looks good and they like but others dont , which is fine by me, i am open to any personal opion anyone has. it's just a really fun car to drive, i got hit twice by neglagent drivers and it was their faults but iam working on getting it put back together.Jul 16, 2010

It is excellent on gas milage, but has bad acceleration!!! You will definitely not pay as much for gas as you would for other cars!! But the power in the car is not the greatest, unless you add some performance parts. Jun 29, 2010

This fifth generation civic lx has the d15b7 engine. It is very good on reliability and getting good gas mileage. On the other hand, it has very low power so it is slow. Has good looks, and it's interior is probably better than any car under 25k or 30k now a days. As a daily driver, this is a perfect car and its cheap to own.Jun 19, 2010

the acceleration is smooth but the power of the high-end is amazing! I have the
automatic tranny yet, and as far I've changed the gearbox twice cause it's
lifetime..
handling is so grippy, you won't make it sliding easily, the suspension
characteristic is rigid but depends on its load.
the exterior styling is amazing for it's production period(1992-1995) and the
interior so wide..
it's really fun to drive, you can manuevering so easily at high speed, there's no
swaying effect during the drive, and the braking system is perfect!
I've use it for 6 years but theres no specific problems, except its gearbox.

Love my old little red '93 Honda Civic Si hatchback! Spent thousands of dollars on upgrade on sound system and high performance parts (cold air intake pipe, performance exhaust system, etc). Great fuel economy and handle extreme well. Never had any expensive repairs just regular maintenance! Well built by Honda Canada! :)

Performance - D15B7 Automatic Transmission, Not very fast, Good car to go from point A to point B. Suspension is decent as long as you dont use 17, 18 Rims (makes the car have a rough drive). The breaking is decent.
Build Quality - Thin sheet Metal, Easy to get dents, Oil does burn if your Piston Rings are not in good shape.
Appearance - Interior is mostly all plastic. The stock Seats feel very comfort, has room for 2 more people in back. Decent trunk space.
Cost of Ownership - 24 dollars to fill the tank every week.

For a 1.6L it accelerates pretty quickly and it's very agile. There's tonnes of space on the inside even thought it looks small from the outside. Mine has gone over275,000km yet it doesn't look or feel that old. Overall, it's fun to drive and feels great to have.Jan 09, 2010

It's a hatchy, in this case a lil rice rocker, with the lowest
weight you can get. Anything on these cars is easy and cheap
to replace, aftermarket is overflowing with parts. Easily you

Performance:
Acceleration - decent for a 1.5L, But it will be a ton better once I get my new engine in.
Braking - Never Have any problems stopping it
Handling - It takes corners like a champ.
Quality - Never have any problems with it, no matter what
Appearance - I like the look. But there's still a few things I'd like to change.

this car is more than capable of taking you to hell and back
with minimal problems. it has the best gas mileage 48 to55
mpg. It has amazing acceleration for only having 92 horse
power thanks to its V-TEC E. its looks are clean inside and out
and handles better than most cars. maintenance is very

Performance - Modified engine and suspension so things got better
Build Quality - Freaking bubbles accumulate on roof, tough engine, tough suspension
Appearance - I love the way it looks, very sleek, you don't have to go extreme lengths to make it look good, sometimes just lowering it will do the job...of course i did more to it that just lowering it :)
Cost of ownership - Parts a bit expensive

I bought this car about 3 weeks ago and I love it! Top package you could get in 1993. Power sunroof, mirrors, power steering. Runs and drives strong! Can't ask for much more power from a 1.6L Inline-4. When VTEC kicks in, you better hold on, cause she purrs like a kitten. Very good on gas also. Only costs me $25 (ish) to fill the tank, and it lasts me quite a long time. It's also very reliable, as I drive it pretty hard every day, and she's still holdin up for me! By far the best car I've ever owned. Then again, I haven't owned an S2000.... yet.Dec 02, 2008

Reliable car has very high mileage and still runs great gets great highway gas mileage and fantastic in town gas mileage. looses pickup with the air conditioning on but it's an all around great car. the car isn't very fast but has enough power for good day to day driving

The engine never dies even running it dry (no oil) for a week
There is no rear weight so it was great for driving in the snow.
It was a very simply built vehicle so it was easy to tinker with and learn about cars.

I have wanted this car even before I started driving and now I finally have one. The stock motor in the car only has about 70 horse power which is kind of pathetic. The CX trim of this car does not have any "extras". It has cloth seats, no power steering, no A/C. I bought this car not with the intentions of daily driving it, but to make it fast. my horn does not work
I have checked everything, and all looks good. When I push the horn button there is a clicking sound from under the dash. Is there an inline fuse or relay I am not aware of.

my 93 civic shuts off while driving
This is a new problem with my civic, it shuts off when it gets warm. It starts from cold without a problem then I drive it 8-10 miles and it shuts off. Gas tank is half full and the car start back up after 30 minutes of letting it to cool off. The check engine light comes on after driving 3-4 miles and stays on until the engine is shut off. Please help

Horn not working
My horn doesn't click, make any sounds or react when I push the buttons. Does anyone have an idea as to whether it is an electrical issue or replacement/maintenance issue. Note: The SRS light is lit up and the there is a green adapter disengaged on the right side of the steering wheel. I will upload a picture for clarity if some one can help me.
