Has anyone replaced the camshaft sensor on a 1993 Ford escort wagon l.9L engine? Please tell me how to do it.

i do not like that i feel like im riding on a wing and prayer every time i drive it.
i am thankful that i do have a ride and so far it gets me where im going...

This vehicle is proof positive that you CAN polish a turd!

2nd engine, 3rd automatic transmission, suspension and steering re-worked (after
300,000 miles)
Reliable, easy to maintain and repair but ugly as Hell.

VERY base model absolutely no power stearing
but when you get 30 mpg and can pack all your camping gear and two boddies and a labrador in it with no problems id drive it
used to have grandfathers lx model and it was the perfect car and lots of acceleration Jan 09, 2011

1993 Ford escort wagon, yes i said wagon!
Performance-the acceleration for this 4 cylinder is actually quick, considering it
has a 1.9L SOHC engine. Power wise... its a 4 cylinder.
Build Quality-Works great, has gone 300,000 Miles without any major repairs or
tune up's. Just Basic maintenance care
Appearance-Not the best looking, but looks like a "Missile" so thats why we call
the escort the missile. Also, we call it a classic, because of modern day cars
today.
Cost of ownership-Gas Milage is great! 35+ on highway, 30 city. maintenance is
cheap as well. can easily find all the parts
Fun factor- it gets going quick, but no power, sounds and looks like a Missile!Aug 07, 2010

I do love the great handling and peppy motor but it lacks in power and has way to
low of gear ratios. It is fairly full efficient as long as you drive it normally or you can

acceleration, breaking, all good for 93. handling would be better if strut mounts werent rusted. appearance is great considering its a 93. little bit of rust and few dents. otherwise all good. gas about 3 gal for ever150 miles.

Great car to drive, little sluggish as this was a naturally aspirated 1.8 D. Build quality was good, and at the time was a nice place to be in; black cloth interior, black door panels and dash. Externally was white, spoiler nice all round sporty body kit. Had to get rid as it got written off!Sep 04, 2009

Not the fastest car i have ever owned but it was great on
gas, got pretty peppy when i put in the exedy Stg 1 clutch,
easy to maintain but no aftermarket mods made for it, i was at

A good work horse, at the time the interior was smart and
everything worked apart from some issues with the contact
plates on the the boot lid for the electrics such as rear heater
and wiper. 1.6 EFi engine was suitable for the need and it was

Performance: handling and braking are good acceleration os ok.
Build Quality: hasnt needed repairs is a while... just the normal maitinance.
Appearance: exterior- minor hail damage, paint is coming off at the bumper and behind the tires interior... smoker owned it before me... but i completely got the smell out, but there is a small cigarett hole in the back seat
Cost of Ownership: 25 city/ 33 hwy... great gas mileage, regular maitenance needed.

My Escort was an attractive little wagon which I drove for nine years with confidence. It was roomy enough for all my keyboards and equipment and pretty thrifty to operate. Like most cars in the late 80's and 90's it wasn't anything nice to look at but it worked well as a wagon. The small engine was more apparent when hauling heavy things or lots of people. The clutch survived 3 learning drivers and 11 years before giving in.Mar 31, 2008

spraypainted black, patchwork parts all over the place, but it runs. put little money into it, even when it was only Joe's car, and it just refuses to die. probably won't ever sell it unless it finally takes a crap. gets 26ish mpg all day, and is light enough that you don't miss having HP. great beater/commuter carMar 12, 2008

Another profitable Escort for me, I bought this with the £200 I got for my F reg, and sold for £300 after 9 months of trouble free ownership.
As a means of getting from A to B as cheaply as possible then, this is the perfect car.However, as a driver's car, it was hopeless. Underbraked, underpowered, and with a chassis that was considerably worse than the MK4 it replaced (you could feel the shell flexing on some roundabouts where it was stiffly sprung and had a solid beam rear axle). But no complaints for a cheap second car, and if you need a cheap car that will get you from A to B without £, then this is what you need.Jan 23, 2008

how to fix a rough idling 1.9 litter ford engine in a 93 escort lx
i replaced the motor in my escort with one from a 96, also replaced plugs. alt., plug wires injectors, timing belt, serptine belt, tensioner, fuel filter,temp sensor, cooling fan switch, but as soon as she warms up she idles so rough the whole car shakes and as soon as you put her in gear she dies as well as when i stop at light........what can it be? checked compession and no problems there, check engine light stays on....has me my grandfather a ford tech and my father in law stumped.
