1992 Nissan Maxima Preview summaryImage

For the 1992 model year, Nissan put a more powerful engine in the higher-end trim of the luxurious Maxima. The front end was also restyled, and for the first time a drivers-side airbag was offered. The 1992 Nissan Maxima came in two trims: the GXE and the sportier SE. The SE was available with a five-speed manual or automatic transmission, and the GXE was available only with the four-speed manual. The GXE had a 3.0-liter, 160-horsepower V6, which was bumped up to 190 horses for the SE. The fuel economy is about 19/26 mpg for both engines. The 1992 Maxima was popular for a number of reasons, including its reputation for reliability, good looks and comfy interior, and powerful engine. Many drivers are annoyed by the mechanical seatbelts.

I worked for nissan for 11 yrs this car had two common things go bad. window regs and injectors. thats not bad when you think of the thousands of parts on a car. I have put about 1500 dollars and 20 hrs of my time in this car in the past 10 yrs. drive 50 miles a day.Jun 04, 2012

I loved the car, she was so much fun to drive, being that she was manual transmission. It was unfortunate that the engine died on me a few months after it was given to me. Bucky had a good 16 years =]Sep 29, 2009
