The 1992 Nissan 300ZX changed very little from the previous year, gaining standard driver's side airbags. Otherwise, it remained much the same.
The 1991 300ZX came in the base model, the two-seater T-bar model, the 2+2 model, and the turbo. The base model was available only as a five-speed and did not have the T-bar roof. The T-bar model was available as an automatic and had an upgraded sound system. The 2+2 was nearly identical to the T-bar, with the addition of an extra row of seats. The turbo had a 3.0-liter, 300 horsepower V6, while all other models had a 3.0-liter, 222-horsepower V6. Fuel economy was about 18/24.
The 1992 300ZX has a following of diehard enthusiasts, many of whom claim the car is the best they have ever driven. Fans praise the car's peppy engine, good looks, and comfortable, well-designed interior. Owners say the handling is what really shines, making for a very fun ride. Drivers do caution that the car needs to be babied, and that repairs can be expensive, but also say that with good care the 1992 300ZX will last a long time.

I like the way it looks, handles , and rides. Plenty of power, and actually nice on long trips, the t tops are nice too. mpg is usually 20 around town, but gets about 25 on the highway if I can keep my foot out of it some, hard to do tho,May 09, 2014

Highly modified 300zx tt. Dyno'ed at 485rwhp @ 21psi on 93 octane. Mods include: gt28rs turbos, stillen intercoolers, nismo 555cc injectors, sp test and down pipes, greddy evo2 cat back exhaust, ash-spec ecu, blitz sequential boost controller, alcohol injection, jim wolf pop charger, rps clutch, aluminum flywheel, 1 piece drive shaft, z1 boost hoses, and a greddy turbo timer.
The car on the street is beautiful, the turbos spool quick and it is very responsive. Since I've had it it really hasnt needed anything other than oil changes and standard maintainence. It's a total blast to drive, handles great for a car with 18 year old suspension.Oct 20, 2011

Excellent car for its era, timeless design and great performer. Targa top is cool and functional, but can be problematic once the seal starts to crack under the harsh Australian sun. Low roof line, sleek design make this car aerodynamic and stylish. Engine bay is packed with gear, lots of power but really hard to work on. When the turbo goes, be prepared to dig deep in to the engine bay and pockets.Aug 17, 2010

the wireing on the 300zx is very difficult to work around and causes the car to be a bit of a money pit. Great performance car and fun to drive. can find one cheap and buy the parts off the internet.Sep 10, 2009

I am at present dismantleing the engine to correct a few minor problems, but I love driving this car just for fun.
The engineering is quite complicated but I am coming to terms with it. Great enhanced power with remapped ECU and 3inch big bore exhaust system.Aug 10, 2009

This was one of my favorite cars I owned. It was the non twin turbo charged model with about 120,000 mile on it. The car was flawless in every way possible. It really wasn't that quick, (that's why they made the turbo charged model) but it still was one of the most fun cars to drive I've owned. 0-60 5.3 sec. 100-0 about 2years standard brakes r .w a n k mpg gd 4 a 3litre turbo can get about 30-35 on a run about 15-20 in town tho. very tail happy in the wet easy to control tho. top speed 160+ after 160 take time to get ne higher will push 170 but this will course the turbos pain not advisableJul 02, 2009

I have a 92 and according to the mechanic the car runs as if it were brand new. Car has a few maintenance issues. But once you get over the hump...There will be plenty of "good times". Plus the car is fast than the 350z stock :-) cant top that!May 26, 2009

This car is crazy! Performances are out of this world. She is beautiful, i tell her every day lol. Cost of ownership is the only negative point, gas mileage is bad and costs of repairs can be really high. I have never driven a car more fun to drive. my 300zx is the best. I prefer the look of the 300zx over the 350z styling. It has a V6 twin cam engine with dual mufflers and four exhaust pipes. so its pretty sick and stuff. and the dallas cowboys kick everyones butt all across the field. so ha haOct 29, 2008

This is Carl's car that he bought used about 3 years ago. It is a good running car that is ecnominical on gas and runs great for an older car.The only downfall is it currently doesn't have air conditioning and in Florida it is hot. The car is a rare pearl white and handles wonderfully.Aug 21, 2008

Very Sleek, comfortable, user friendly & drives like the wind.....

Hello Im new to this site i just bought a 1992 300zx 2+2 version with an automatic transmission and i had a question because im going to buy and install a new transmission. but my question is im looking at a lot of transmissions for sale but are the transmissions for the 300zx 2+0 and 2+2 the same? i hear that the 2+2 is longer but i really need to buy a tranny!! please help if the tranny for the 300zx 2+0 does work will i need to change anything to it so it works with my 300zx 2+2???? thanks in advance ~ Thedjrush520
