The 1991 Nissan 300ZX saw a number of changes from the previous year. Most notably was the addition of a stripped-down base model. New standard equipment was added, which included heated mirrors, a cargo cover, automatic temperature control, and a Bose audio system in all models except the base.
The 1991 300ZX came in the base model, the two-seater T-bar model, the 2+2 model, and the turbo. The base model was available only as a five-speed and did not have the T-bar roof. The T-bar model was available as an automatic and had an upgraded sound system. The 2+2 was nearly identical to the T-bar, with the addition of an extra row of seats. The turbo had a 3.0-liter, 300 horsepower V6, while all other models had a 3.0-liter, 222-horsepower V6. Fuel economy was about 18/24.
It may be an understatement to say that 1991 300ZX owners love their cars. They love the way they look, the powerful engine, the comfortable and well-equipped interior, and all the attention they get driving it. Turbo owners are particularly enthusiastic. Some owners do complain that when the car needs repair, parts can be expensive.

I liked the power and the overall handling is great. The car doesn't sway, dip or anything strange in the corners. I had the suspsension replaced wehn I bought it, the car drives like new. The interior is immaculate, and I replaced the rear wing because it was falling apart. This is pretty common with these vehicles. The car has not been in an accident or had any body work other than stuff I replaced to bring it back to show room condition.Feb 23, 2013

Mine was a bit used, defiantly needed some work. However had a few things
done to it already in a area where I wanted it done. It had a performance tune
and a few or minor stuff bringing the stock horsepower from 300 to about 450.
The car was a blast, gas mileage, well it had 450hp. So not that great. Especially
since I couldn't stay off it. Power is a drug. Jun 05, 2012

Amazing acceleration, when the turbo's kick in you will need a come-a-long to pull
yourself from out of the seat. It is exceptionally fun to drive. This car is a head
turner and when built correctly will dominate any car on the road.Apr 08, 2012

Performance The power of acceleration is amazing even before spool up.
Appearance - Of the interior and exterior styling is amazing, Nissan really took their time in making this car. The driver seat to the shifter, the whole car just feels rightOct 27, 2011

1991 300zx- expensive to maintain, hard to work on, fun to drive. The twin turbo version is the only way to go, it handles great has great power, acceleration and top end. Only downfall is the weak synchros and cost of maintainence.Oct 07, 2010

the Fairlady Z is a great car especially if you want a fast, quick, and
turbocharged car for a reasonable price. the main thing i like about this car is
how its made for the driver. just from the dash and gauge cluster alone nothing
in this car is made to make the passengers ride better, the only thing the
passenger can access is the radio. another great thing is this car can slice
through corners like a hot knife through butter. i can garuntee many people
look over this car because of the skylines and supras, but they problem with
that is people try to sell supras for waaayy to much and skylines are illegal
according to the DOT. Another car people will go to before the Z is the
Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 all because its AWD, AWS, and V6TT but im hear to
tellyou its a fat cow and the performance and power is terrible and not worth it.
Now the Z you get a TT V6 positioned to give it a FR MR feel as Nissan puts it,
plus with how low and wide the stance of the car is it makes it perfect for those
curvy back road cruises. plus the Targa Tops are great for nice sunny days. ill
end finally on Maintance, for how many miles on this cars body (205,000 to be
exact) i've had to do very little such as just replace the brake pads. the engine
compartment though is a different story it is very very tight in there which
makes working on it a bit of a pain in the ass, but if you dont do anything stupid
you will rarely have to visit under the hood. plus modifications are very simple
for this car, even an engine swap for example, i plan on doing a RB26DETT
swap (when i procure a beater during the project, and 15 grand or close), now
this project is actually relatively easy because the engine bolts right up to the
tranny and you have to do few things to the engine compartment to make the
engine fit in nice and smoothly. Therefor if you want a fast car, for a
reasonable price, i would definetly gor for the 300ZX Twin Turbo model.Apr 11, 2010

Sweet car from the exterior to the interior.
The interior puts almost all of the car's controls at the driver's fingertips- Air conditioning and heat, wipers, hazards, almost everything, but it doesn't seem cluttered.
They're a lot more rare than your average mustang, so there's a lot more respect and pride that goes along with it.
I love the response that everything has. Push the gas, instant-response. The brake, immediate response. Amazing.
You won't ever fall out of love for this car.Sep 21, 2009

seems to be plagued with electrical problems but once they get ironed out its a phenomenal car. handling is great pick up is great top end is out of this world. it extremely fun to drive and can give years of pleasure to the owner. many modifications are available and relatively inexpensinve. engine bay is extremely cramped.Aug 16, 2009

The only downside to this car is the cost of parts. Performance could be better, but that's what my TT engine is being put in for. I've been daily driving it since 2003 and I have yet to get tired of it.Jul 25, 2009

Needs a twin turbo engine....I added an aftermarket suspension kit for added road-holding performance. Right now, the ride is stiff because of the suspension, there's no radio (which is fine by me), and I also added chassis braces to the front and back. It gets decent mileage for a sports car, but expect to fill it up once a week.Jun 16, 2009

the twin turbo set up with the ball bearing garretts was excellent for low and top and power....i upgraded to 550 cc injectors with a 255 lph walboro fuel pump and new relay. Nismo high flow fuel pressure regulator and nismo fuel rail. Other bolt ons include a injen cold air twin filter intake, nismo x-pipe and dual exhaust and jim wolf headers. I was going to swap in specialty-z sport 500's turbos and twin air to air front mount intercoolers.Jun 10, 2009

I had this car for about a year back when i was a
senior in high school. i bought it with the intention of
modifying it. I had no idea it would lead to a RB25
(single turbo skyline motor) swap. I put everything I
had into this car and it was amazing. unfortunately
after the swap it was not a daily driver and i didnt
have enough for a second car. overall I would strongly
recommend this car to anyone, especially when its
powered by a RB motor ;)Apr 09, 2009

Timeless beauty, exceptionally built sport touring car that was far ahead of it's time. It can still be compared to cars with todays standards. I would buy another as a get around toy for the weekends or as a hobby car to enhance the performance more.Mar 25, 2009

The powerplant of the Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo is the VG30DETT. It is a dual overhead cam, electronic injection, Twin Turbo Engine. Power is 300 bhp.
Build Quality is great. My car is a 91, and interior looks GREAT.
The suspension of my car is crappy. It rattle quite bad in the rear, but that is not Nissan's fault but whosever aftermarket suspension.
This is one of the best looking cars of the 90's. Top 5 at least, and number one that I can think of at the moment.
Cost of Ownership: A LOT. Not known as the most reliable car ever, and basically anything you want to do requires you to pull the engine. Fuel Economy is decent. I average 15 mpg city (running rich) and it is spirited driving.
Very Fun car to drive. Sporty, handles well, smooth power delivery. Torquey (TorK-E)
This car is great for many drivers, can be fun and can bite you in the butt if you push it too hard.Mar 13, 2009

This car is down right gorgeous. I mean what can I say, Twin Turbo is so much fun, and this thing handles like no other with the hicas ( four wheel steering ). With intake, exhuast, and ecu chip it is at 400 horse power so yeah it is a beast.Jan 05, 2009

Good Acceleration. Excellent Appearance. Rarity.
No major squeaks/rattles. Solidly built car.
Def. a car that I'd buy again someday. It does require more maintenace than something like a Honda S2000 or Toyota MR2 (non-turbo) but it can be just as much fun as either.
The car looks great with very modest customization.
I suggest pearl white with T-Tops and leather interior.Nov 17, 2008

All the cars I have had this one was the oldest but best in looks, performance and reliability. Would buy another tomorrow.
This was just an awesome car to drive, stick your foot down and wait a second for the twin turbo to kick in and hold on. Best Nissan everOct 08, 2008

Oh man this car is amazing. I bought this after i totaled my VR-4 and couldnt be more happy i did. It has great take off but once its on the move it has amazing acceleration. It has about 89k miles so its always got something going on under the hood but its worth every penny. Car looks amazing specially with the stillen body kit it has. I get so many people who want to race from 16 year olds in civics to 60 year olds in mercedes. You should be putting 93 octane in it so its sorta pricy for gas. It is a blast to take this car for the spin specially on nice days when you can take the tops off. The car sounds amazing!Aug 11, 2008

My first car. I found this in search of a manual, rear-wheel drive V-6 beauty. Quick for what it was, with acceleration at a mild 6.5 seconds for 0-60mph. Motor screams all the way to 7000rpms, along with the passengers. Not awe inspiring in performance, leaving a lot to be desired compared to the Twin Turbo variant, yet it is definitely comparable to other performance cars. Leather interior and power everything (except seats) makes it a very luxurious car as well. Same timeless design that made it to the top of both the top 100 coolest cars, and the top 25 most beautiful car. Jun 24, 2008

A fun car to drive on a daily basis. The engine is built solid and you will get about 250k miles without a rebuild being required. It handles very well in corners and with the quick ratio gearing is great for auto-cross racing. The car is built as a luxury performance car so its weight is a little high. This tends to degrade its straight line acceleration but it remains fairly quick. The N/A model is the best model for daily driving.May 03, 2008

I have recently purchased this car however i have been a fan for many years, the car is AMAZING - I have driven other turbos, MR2, Subaru, but the Nisaan 300ZX is just completely 'WOW' :)Mar 05, 2007
Tried fixing speedometer-mechanics have replaced speed sensor-didn't fix it. No one knows what to do. My QUESTION IS: Does a fuse control the speed sensor or cruise control? If so, which one should I try and replace? All my other gauges works-tach, oil pressure, gas...one guy wanted to replace the gauge cluster but when I asked about why all the other gauges work, he didn't know. PLEASE HELP ME. Spent loads of money and time trying to fix it.
MY 91 IS ALL ORIGINAL EVEN THE FUSES WITH 63,000 MI. I WENT TO TURN MY CAR OFF ONE DAY AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULDN'T TURN OFF. WOULD JUST LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM PLEASE SO I CAN DRIVE MY CAR.
My 91 Nissan 300ZX full start first thing in the morning no problems after I drive it in town and kill it I cannot restart it for at least 30 minutes to an hour
My 91 300zx2+2 na al my lights work turn signals head llotja tail lights but when I go to hit the breaks there not coming on I have replaced the break light relay in the back as well as under the break pedal still nothing all fuses are good as well as bulbs I'm starting to pull my hair out lol went under the hood and there seems to be no power getting to 3 of the fuses any ideas on how to get it fixed
