1991 Honda Civic Reviews, Pricing & Specs

The car was a gift from a friend, now owned for more than two years. Lots of wear and tear and various issues stemming from age and use. Only a guess at mileage as the odometer froze at 254k several years before I acquired the car. Estimating maybe 330 to 360k now. Still runs strong, though it goes through a lot of oil. However, repairs have generally been easy and the car has survived a tremendous amount of abuse. This thing is borderline indestructible. Taught myself to drive stick shift with this car, and it's been forgiving on that front.Jan 03, 2013

ok, its old and has some rust cause its 20 years old. but its a Honda. its has slow acceleration but once its going fast it stays going fast! but going fast means nothing if you cant stop. the brakes are good but fade a bit if you work them hard. ive upgraded the suspension, and restored it to like new as well as adding a rear sway bar. this car is easy to maintain cause its a civic. this one burns oil but still gets near 30 MPG. this car is wicked fun to drive!! especially after putting the rear sway bar in.Aug 19, 2010

I bought this car in 2008 mostly for the gas mileage, and im glad i did. it has saved me much money on gas. it gets about 36 mpg on the highway with my ave speed of 75-80, i think that is good, considering the hills and high winds of Wyoming. in the cold winters with -20F temps, it all ways started and drove fine. it has 162,000 miles on it. no oil leaks or any other fluid leaks. the only repair i did was change the timing belt. it was still working fine, but its recommended to change them every 50,000 miles or so, before they slip so not to damage the engine. with the 4 speed ato trans, its not much power from the 1.5 sohc, but for the most part it holds its speed fine. great run around car, low maintenance, with good mpg, and they run for a long time if you keep up on maintenance. Peformance - D15B2 Inline-4, Automatic Transmission, Suspension was lowered, Never lower a civic. horrible drive. Acceleration is decent to 70. Turns Very Well. Build Quality - Very thin sheet Metal, Interior is all Plastic. Appearance - Looks Old, Out of Date, Interior is all Plastic, Seats Do feel comfy, Rust usually on an old car like this. Cost of Ownership - 20 dollars to fill up gas tank. very good on gas. 28-35mpg. Fun Factor - None Really enless ur into Swaping Motors.Feb 14, 2010

right now it is in bad shape. blown motor but im putting in a 1.8 L integra b18A1 non vtech which will give me more than enough horsepower and it will be real quick if it hooks, i do still have to upgrade the brakes though if i wanna stop, it is cheap on gas and is a blast to drive. at least when it has good tires lol. i need new seats though bc someone put ford escort seats in itOct 06, 2009

I bought this car with about a 152k on it. It had a lot of new O.E.M. parts on the engine (timing belt, water pump, alternator, starter, a/c compressor). I have added a ram air intake, custom exaust (complete), short shift, 17" Koing rims, Eibach racing springs, Front A-arms with adjustable ball joints, Wicked rear camber kits. I have a t3/t4 turbo going on it soon. Just need to find the time to rebuild the engine. My friend who owned it before me made a custom rear wing. This car is fun to drive. It is a 5-speed and very quick for the 1.5L engine. I took it to the track and it ran the quarter in the high 17's. I plan to get it in the high 14's with the turbo. The best thing I like about it is the gas milage I get, about 31-35 m.p.g.. Fun and economic all in one. Gotta love Honda!Jul 15, 2008

Fun to drive as a 4spd manual, handles tight around turns, starts every time the key is turned regardless of weather or temperature. Gas mileage is fantastic, between 35-41 mpg with mixed highway/city driving. The manufacturer's specs called for 35 mpg only highway! With only about 80hp after my tinkering, it's still a tad underpowered, but better than the factory 70hp. Bought it from my friend at 198500 miles two years ago, has about 225750 on it now. I'm sure I could rack up 100k more on it as long as I take care of it. Classic old school Honda reliability at it's best! Jun 30, 2008

I was quite impressed with the power from the DPFI 1.5L engine, having less than 100hp I thought the car would move like a snail; but it did very well keepping up with traffic and merging. Thats about alll it could do though.... The car was very comfortable, even for tall people and rode very smooth for a compact car. Handling was good, better sized tires could improve it greatly.Feb 19, 2008
