Car is good but the engine needs to be replaced. Interior is excellent, exterior has some bad spot but overall its not to bad. My first Cadillac and wont be my last. I plan on buying several more. I plan to buy a Cadillac Brougham next.Oct 02, 2013

The 1986 Cadillac front wheel drive models are lemons. I owned a 1986 Cadillac Coupe deVille. I bought it in 1994 with 41,000 miles on it from an old couple who seemed to have taken great care of the car. It looked brand new. Not even a week later, the car blew a head gasget. The mechanic told me to sell the car after I repaired the head gasket, but I didn't listen. A few weeks later, I was going on a road trip when I rolled the windows down to let the hot air out of the car. When I went to roll the windows back up, the passenger window stayed down. I went to rent a car and had a friend follow me home in the rental while I drove the Cadillac. While traveling down the freeway at 70 mph, traffic up ahead came to a stop. I went to press on the brake and it traveled to the floor. I had to swerve into the center grassy median until the car came to a stop. If I wasn't in the fast lane, I would have definately rammed the back of the cars in front of me. The brake problem ended up being the brake booster. Shortly there after, the car would rev very high when I started it and would not idle down. I would have to turn the car off and re-start it in hopes that it would re-set itself. If it still was revving too high and I shifted into gear, the car would lurch and the transmission would clank. I had the computer reset 3 times and it would allways "correct" itself back to the high revving idle. I owned the car for 2 months and sold it. I spoke with an older couple who owned a 1985 Sedan deVille and they owned that car for 60 months and it was in the shop 60 times (they bought it brand new). It's a shame because these cars are comfortable and large on the inside for there small exterior. They ride nice and handle pretty good too. However, after all of that, I'm still a Cadillac fan. I grew up with Cadillacs and they were wonderful cars. If anyone wants a great old Cadillac, Buy a rear- wheel drive pre-1982 or 1986 and later model deVille, Fleetwood, or Brougham. Sep 24, 2010

this car had a V8 with a 130 horsepower, it got 13 mpg, had no power, always broke down, but damn it was a comfortable ride...just like sittin in a lazy boy, and anything you hit was toast with minimal damage to the car. hehe.Jul 28, 2009
