1981 Honda Accord Preview summaryImage

The 1981 Honda Accord (finally) marks the last year of the first generation.

A new trim level was offered this year, which included leather seats, power windows and doors, and a cassette deck. This SE model packed a punch with the American public who were far more used to vinyl seats and windows that took arm and elbow muscles to roll up and down.

Over the five years of the Accord history, prices had risen by 50 percent, but so too had popularity.

Today's drivers of '81 Accords tend to be teens, who can afford the low, low price tag of a 25 year old car, that as some say, "can be driven into the ground and will keep on going."

It just got too rusty. I would have kept it longer if it wasn`t for that. New England winters werent kind to it. It was the best car I ever had. Rusty Jones didn`t keep it from rotting away to nothingNov 25, 2012

I mean, this is no jet powered car, but after 30 years, she can still turn on a dime and give change. Nice and tight around the corners, stays right on the road. :-) And the most important thing - she gets out of the way when somebody tries to smack into us. I mean, really. I have out-maneuvered at least three larger vehicles intent on causing us harm. For a 30 year old car, the interior looks new, although I did wear out the front seats. The exterior still looks good after all this time with only minimal maintenance. Still gets over 30 mph - I have saved a fortune in gas. As like - compared to my pick-up.... So she's cheap to run. She's at the age now where she needs more and more repairs. But, hey. She's been on the road a long, long time. This car has always been fun to drive, and I can carry home sacks of feed in the trunk with the back seat folded, too. I've been loving this car since I bought it in 1981!Mar 09, 2011

Lotta new stuff under that old hood of hers, but the back ends pretty rough, dont have the goods to fix it myself, so im trying to part her out, or sell her whole. It still runs fine, but driving it is shunned upon by those who are cops.Mar 07, 2011
