1974 Dodge Charger Preview summaryImage

The 1974 Dodge Charger has much of the styling and performance of the '73 car, but with a slightly sportier look. The redesigned grille and larger quarter-panel windows were added largely to comply with the regulations of the day.

The 1974 model year was the end of the third-generation Dodge Charger and really the end of the true muscle-car era. The Charger was for a while an icon to speed freaks everywhere, thanks in part to its popularity in the movies "Bullitt" and "The Fast and the Furious" and the television show "The Dukes of Hazzard."

Heading away from performance and toward luxury, the 1974 Dodge Charger dropped the Ralley trim package, though the 440 Magnum was still the top engine offered (now de-tuned to 275hp). The most popular trim was the SE with its standard 400cc block providing 260hp to the rear tires. It provided comfort and luxury and was a signal of this vehicle's future in an era of environmental and governmental regulations.

Right…..the story of "Honey Brown", my 1974 Dodge Charger, where do I begin? I’ll start at the beginning; this will help you understand why it’s hard for me to part with it. When I was 12 years old my brother was going away to college and my parents bought him a 1971 Black on Black Leather Charger with Cragar Rims, Slick 50 Mag Tires, “The Works” my jaw dropped and I told him to take care of this car so I could have it…of course a year later he crashed it in a ditch and I never saw it again. I promised myself that one day I would by my own…On September 7, 2004 I won her on eBay from Cocoa Beach Florida. Dec 31, 2011
