1973 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Reviews, Pricing & Specs
Write a review
The 1973 Chevrolet Monte Carlo represented the first car in the second generation of Monte Carlos, and as such featured a redesign.
The hardtop was gone, replaced with a pillared coupe. A 5-mph bumper was added to the front in order to meet the new federal standards. The interior was all-new as well, though it showed some similarities to the Corvette: The driver was surrounded by his or her instruments as if piloting a jet plane, rather than driving a car.
The base engine was a 350-ci 5.7-liter V8 rated at 145 horsepower, with the top available engine being a 454-ci 7.4-liter rated at 245 horsepower.
Notice was taken of the changes, and the '73 Monte Carlo was given Motor Trend's prestigious "Car of the Year" title.

1973-74 monte performance?
hey guys i really love 1973-74 monts and i'm planning to get one for my first car ... planning to get a (350 4bbl ) 'but i was wondering if the 350 has a good performance since it's a HEAVY car??? planning to do minor tweaking(headers, new carb ,msd , maybe even a 383 stroker ) i don't want a drag strip car but a nice street cruiser ... will it give me 0-60 in about 7 secs with minor tuning?
need a value for '73 Monte Carlo ALL ORIGINAL 100k Near mint condition.
This car sat for 20 yrs in a garage, has all factory original everything, even rims and tires! its got the 5.7 litre engine, with no mods at all. its on the market for $3,500, and i see a bunch going for 3 times that...is this the steal of the century i found here? Help me ot please. oh, the car won best interior in 2006 at a local car show, and has been in show room condition since the 2nd owner bought it in 2000. I would be the 3rd owner.
