OK so iv recently came across a 1969 mercury couger. I've got it started an running it has sat garaged for 7 years not drivin or turned over what so ever. I added all fluids an decided to go for a test drive when I put it into gear there was no difference no sound nothing I so I gave it a rev an nothing car didn't move I gave it alil more gas till about 2500 rpm an it jerked forward only to go maby 10 feet it dosent seem to do it in reverse but in drive it's stop an go but to get it to even move u got to rev it between 2 an 3 thousand it jerks hard then loses all power please help it's a classic please please
To get the brake lights to work you have to push the brake peddle as far as it will go. and the car behind you has no warning you are stopping. When the motor is off you just touch the peddle and the lights come on ??? Note: Power brakes
Where can I get repair manuals for my 69 cougar
I recently bought a pair of 1969 Cougars- both stored in a barn in Virginia, one since 1985 and the other since 1988. one is a survivor, nice original interior and even still has the factory plastic on the back seat! nice and straight and solid, original paint would buff up and look decent but not show. has a 351 Windsor 2bbl AT. not even any rust blisters under the vinyl top. the second one is an XR7, good interior and solid body but whacked hard in the driver's door. came with a spare door... there's some involvement in the striker plate area and front of the rear quarter, dent in LF fender too but not the door post. unsure of the engine but as far as I could tell in the recesses of the barn it appears to be another 351 Windsor. I'm probably going to sell one and keep the other, would appreciate any feedback on which car is more desirable- the survivor or the XR7 Thanks
