Great handling! Amazing feedback from the steering and holds the road very well. Goes fairly well in a straight line, but the automatic slush box thats in there takes a bit to downshift when the gas is pounded down while its moving. other than that i have no complaints, maintainence sucks sometims (ie alternator replacement) but im ok with that. build quality is good, by far better than that rice burning crap ive had before, although it does have some typical "ford noises" like rattles and squeaks but who cares? Ford power all the way!!!May 16, 2011

The performance is average, acceleration is a bit better than I had hoped, braking is excellent, and it handles pretty well. Build quality is superb. I have owned it for about 3/4 of a year, and I've done no repairs....Although it does now have a bit of moaning coming from under the hood....But that's just a slipping belt, an easy and cheap fix. Appearance wise, I think the exterior looks pretty good. I mainly like the aggressive look of the headlights. Interior is just as good. with 4 bucket seats in two-tone colors, I think it looks pretty sporty. The cost of ownership is amazing. Well built, and it gets really good gas mileage. The fun factor is lacking a bit, due to the slight lack of power.....But a few engine mods, or exhaust system, will help lots!Dec 23, 2009

Build Quality as far as mechanical wise was very good. For a small car is felt like you were driving a large performance vehicle. However I had to re-do half of the electrical myself to fix certian issues that are known with the car including headlights, guage cluster, voltage regulator and minor sensor issues. After that was all done the car was fun to drive and definatley a head turner one the headlights and taillights were tined, rims put on it, hids, custom suede intirior etc.Dec 04, 2009

Dislike? not fast enough but that can be fixed, not rwd or awd. and then don't make them anymore :(. It was built on a dead platform but they didn't want to step on the toes of the mustang, which is why they never came out with the Cougar S. Which was an AWD 200-220hp version of the Cougar with fancy trim like a lip kit and a 3.0L engine. That would have been awesome. But then again you can always build your own version of it too. Now I'm just rambling on. It's pretty dam good in the corners, as Jeremy Clarkson put it "it's no slouch" So it has decent acceleration, good braking and awesome cornering. Looks very hot inside and out, Doesn't need too many repairs, just general maintenance, for 10 years old not squeaks rattles etc. Easy maintenance for how hard I drive it, great gas mileage 30-36 highway, and 25 ish city (depending how hard you push it). It's lots of fun to drive, the pedals are placed perfectly for heel-toe downshifts, everything's in the right place. Defiantly a drivers car which is why it grows on you. Jun 29, 2009

Gas mileage is pretty bad, it eats through it and gets somewhere between 13-19 mpg, whichever it feels like that day. Acceleration is a little sticky, but once you get out of first gear you're good to go. I have never had a problem with the braking, they're very responsive. Except for the sticking shifting, overall handling is very nice. Car is very fun to drive once you get used to it.Jun 16, 2009

First brand new car that I had ever owned and was awesome performance wise but as the years have gone on, obviously the performance has gone down with wear. It's a FORD, so fix or repair daily pretty much sums it up. The tracks on the sunroof are made of plastic so if they break you have to buy a whole new assembly. Not the case with mine, but I have a dead spot in the motor so no more sunroof for me.Jul 20, 2008

Nice and sporty. Great handling. About the same excel as a Prelude, if not more. More torque than other cars in its class. Bullet proof engine. Some ppl complain about it being too noisey on the road but I like it. the 99-00 years have a faulty moon roof that breaks after about 100k miles and cost about $1200 to fix. the 01-02 models were fixed. Overall I'm satisfied over my cougar investment. Jul 12, 2008

Nice car, been with me since Sep 2000. Haven't had any serious mechanical issues with it.... except for that oopsie with punching a hole in the oil pan.... Interior is black and gray, panels are a little cheap looking, but nice enough... really badly designed cup holder in the front. Automatic transmission isn't as smooth as I'd like it to be. Exterior is black, small spoiler is ok, front fascia and headlights look nice, rear end looks a little big, but it's up to what your taste is like.Mar 31, 2008

Good quality car I would say not too shabby. Little problems here and there but what car doesn't right? Mine is black with 5% tint on all window's and 35% on the front windshield... i know i know tisk tisk but it looks good! lol I got tint on headlights, tail lights, and any other visible light outside of the car. The only thing that is actually not black are the rims... yet. Other than that it's all stock!Jan 13, 2008

I adore this cute thing. So what if this car has a V6 engine & accelerates fast? I've heard things like, "It's a guy's car, blah blah blah." I'm a girl & I drive it. I love it. It's nice to be driving around in the summer with the mini sun roof open & I am so glad there is a built in, CD player that came with the car because, although, the car has a radio system in it, I dislike what radio stations play & because I don't have control over what I want to listen to. I bought this as a used car & it is in great condition, except for the battery so I had replaced it with a new one. I love the color of the car too. It says it is maroon in color, but it looks more red to me. So yes, the end.Nov 02, 2007
