Need left front fender for 1969 Ford torino.
A previous owner installed a factory tach, but it doesn't work. The first issue I spotted is the Tach lead, a two wire harness with 1 red wire,1 black wire, and a large firewall plug. It appears to be properly connected under the dash, but the black wire is cut in the engine compartment. I have no idea where the black wire should go. They have spliced the red wire into the regular red w/green stripe coil feed near the coil. I thought on factory tach cars the tach lead should go directly to the coil, and split to the red/green somewhere under the dash. I haven't pulled the dash out yet, wanted to get the engine compartment right first. I know black would typically indicate a ground, just not sure why they would run that all the way to the front of the block, or where it would attach to.... lol, never had a factory tach car before.
The alternator is sqealing something fierce. A friend helped me tighten up the belts. It still sqeals. We don't observe any slippage. The alternator is very hot to the touch. There are three belts total (power steering and AC). Parts are all new. I did not install them. The issue started this past weekend. It is cold here, and damp. The car is stored inside, but the garage is not climate controlled. I'm trying to run it once a week. In addition, when we ran it yesterday, the exhaust on the driver's side was also blowing out a bit of oil.... I'm a newbie, and my husband is not a car guy. Any info will be appreciated!
Does anyone know if i can change the non powered drum brakes that are on my 1969 Torino now to power disc brakes from a 1971 Thunderbird?
