Ladies and Gentlemen, This is the one you keep in the garage for those nice sunny days when you want to go for a cruise. A well kept unmolested Karmann Ghia is a tough thing to come by. If you find one, snatch it up and keep it stock. The 1600 cc dual port is not much for modern freeway cruising, but it will get you up to speed and save on gas. An of course there is always the option of shelving the original engine and popping in something a bit more radical (perhaps 1776 up to 2000 cc). With a wider track and front disc brakes, the 1968 VW Karmann Ghia is a perfect period cruise that handles in line with its contemporaries. The styling is decidedly italian and often reminds those who see it of older Porsche sports cars. But underneath it all, it is a VW at heart. This means inexpensive services and repairs. Keep them on the road. And keep them clean! Oct 28, 2012
