What’s New for the 2024 Ram 3500
The Ram 3500 is largely a carryover for the 2024 model year. The only update of note is a new “tailgate ajar” warning light for the driver.
Design
The Ram 3500 is offered with a two-door regular cab, a full four-door crew cab, and the Mega Cab, which is an expanded crew cab with outstanding cabin space. It’s also offered in single-rear-wheel and dual-rear-wheel (“Dually”) configurations. The 2024 Ram 3500 is available with power-telescoping side trailering mirrors, in-bed power outlets, in-bed LED lighting, and the Ram Box lockable/drainable cargo compartments located above the rear wheel fenders.
Powertrain
Engine options include a gas V8 and a turbodiesel inline-six. The 6.4-liter gas-fueled Hemi V8 makes 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. The Cummins 6.7-liter turbodiesel engine develops 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. Ram also offers a high-output version of this engine, churning out 420 horsepower and an immense 1,075 pound-feet of torque.
The gas V8 comes equipped with an eight-speed automatic. The diesel engines are mated to an Aisin six-speed automatic transmission. Power is routed to the rear wheels (RWD) or to available four-wheel drive (4WD) with low-range gearing. When properly equipped, the Ram 3500 can tow an incredible 37,090 pounds. It also has a maximum payload rating of 7,680 pounds.
Interior
Trims for the 2024 Ram 3500 are Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, and Limited. If you’re looking for a true work truck, the Tradesman comes with vinyl bench front seating. The Big Horn comes with cloth upholstery. Genuine leather upholstery is optional on the Big Horn and standard on higher trims. Other available features include genuine wood interior trim, a 17-speaker Harmon Kardon premium stereo system, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a panoramic sunroof.
Technology
The Tradesman and Big Horn trims come with a 5-inch audio display. The Big Horn is available with the user-friendly 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Shoppers can also select a 12.3-inch touchscreen. This large screen is portrait-oriented and takes over most of the center console.
Safety
Standard driver-assistance features are minimal. You get the backup camera that’s required by regulators, and if you step up to a higher trim or select one of the available equipment packages, you can outfit the Ram 3500 with features such as forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, a trailer camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control that can follow with the flow of traffic.
Pricing
At the time of this writing, the 2024 Ram 3500 has a base MSRP of $48,875. The Big Horn starts at $53,650, and the Laramie starts at $66,515. The Limited starts at $90,655 and the Limited Longhorn starts at $91,025. The Ram 3500 is backed by a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. The diesel engine comes with a five-year/100,000-mile warranty.
