What people say
Fantastic ride and comfort. It also looks nice and timeless.
I had been told to stick to Honda or Toyota for a practical car but I was frustrated having to go higher trims to get my dealbreakers like keyless entry or power seats. I also hadn’t been a fan of SUVs but wanted more cargo space, so I was looking for hatchbacks, but they are so hard to find. Thankfully a friend with this car suggested I try it- I was floored to see how many reasonably priced barely used options I had! And more importantly, the BASE model has everything I could want- keyless entry, power seats, heated seats, a great screen, and so much cargo space. I was comfortable driving this IMMEDIATELY despite never having an SUV. The seats being leather trim with suede centers are truly the best of both worlds. And I could care less than it doesn’t have a touch screen, because the control knob is amazing. I love that the base model has all these perks without a moonroof, which I truly did not want. The only downside I can think of is a less than stellar fuel economy, but I just don’t drive long enough distances for that to be much of a concern for me personally..
This is our second Mazda CX-5. Our 2015 model is still in excellent shape and we gifted it to our daughter. Our new 2024 Mazda CX-5 GS is wonderful! Luxurious, smooth ride, peppy engine, very comfortable. We love it! Friends who have driven with us thought we must have paid over $10,000 more than we did!
I like my Mazda CX 5 , it’s a great great with a lot of features . Price is fair . I looked at Honda and Toyota they were a lot expensive .
Yes, great value and comes with all of the essentials features! Love the moon roof, red leather interior and stitching, heated seats, 12, Bose speaker sound system , dual climate control, memory seat control, Apple/ Android car play! Best bang for buck on value and features!
Mazda CX-5 FAQs
Is the Mazda CX-5 reliable?
Yes, the Mazda CX-5 is considered one of the most reliable vehicles on the market. It offers excellent value for money, with most model years being highly dependable and relatively inexpensive to maintain. The CX-5's reputation for reliability is well-earned, making it a great choice for anyone looking for a dependable and cost-effective SUV.
What are the disadvantages of the CX-5?
While the Mazda CX-5 is generally reliable, some versions, particularly the diesel model, have been known to experience issues such as overheating, problems with fuel injectors, cylinder head temperature sensors, turbo failures, and persistent engine warning lights. These issues can be frustrating and may require multiple repairs. It's important to consider these potential problems when deciding on a CX-5, especially the diesel variant.
Which SUV is better, that Mazda CX-5 or the Toyota RAV4?
Both the Mazda CX-5 and Toyota RAV4 are excellent SUVs, but the CX-5 often stands out for its performance, luxury, safety, warranty coverage, and overall value. If you're looking for a superior driving experience and a more luxurious feel, the Mazda CX-5 is a compelling choice. However, both vehicles have their strengths, so the best option may depend on your specific needs and preferences.
What year of the Mazda CX-5 is the best to buy?
If your budget allows, it's recommended to focus on a Mazda CX-5 from 2014 or newer. These models performed better in the IIHS small overlap crash test. The 2016 model year, in particular, received a light refresh that improved interior quietness, upgraded the interior, and introduced the Mazda Connect infotainment system, despite some user frustration with its interface.
What is the most common problem with the Mazda CX-5?
The most common issues with the Mazda CX-5 tend to be electrical problems, engine problems, interior accessories malfunctions, and issues with the lights. Particularly, the 2014 and 2016 models have recorded more complaints compared to other years. To minimize potential problems, it may be best to consider other model years when looking for a used CX-5.
