The Mazda CX-5's current nationwide average price is $23,715, and its lowest point over the past year was $21,543. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023 and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the Mazda CX-5 is a strong pick if you want a compact SUV with a premium feel and engaging driving manners. The all-generations owner rating is 4.8/5 across every model year in the data.

What should I look for when buying a used Mazda CX-5?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: adaptive cruise control with speed limit assist, automatic emergency braking with Turn-Across Traffic detection and Head-On Collision Mitigation, rear automatic emergency braking with rear cross-traffic alert and pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitors, vehicle exit warning, driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, and dynamic guidelines for the mandatory rear-view camera
• Infotainment: a 12.9-inch touchscreen on all trims except the top-tier Premium Plus, which gets a 15.6-inch unit, plus Google built-in across the lineup
• Fuel efficiency: 24 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 26 combined mpg

Which Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 offers these trims:

• 2.5 S: the entry trim starts the lineup with standard AWD, Google built-in, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, and a comprehensive safety suite, making it the value-focused starting point.
• Select: adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it a smart step up if you want easier smartphone integration.
• Preferred: adds AWD, 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, a head-up display, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 10-way power driver's seat with memory; this is the best-value trim.
• Premium: adds a Bose 12-speaker audio system and SiriusXM satellite radio.
• Premium Plus: adds the larger 15.6-inch screen, a 360-degree View Monitor with underfloor and parking views, a Driver Monitoring system, rear USB-C ports, paddle shifters, an adaptive front-lighting system, front cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, and Cruising & Traffic Support with Lane-Change Assist.

What Mazda CX-5 do most buyers choose?

The Mazda CX-5 years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2026.

These higher-volume years tend to attract the most shoppers because they offer a strong mix of newer features, broad availability, and competitive pricing. When inventory is deep, you also get more chances to compare trims and find a deal that fits your budget.

What is the Mazda CX-5's resale value?

Most CX-5 model years are moving lower year over year, which can work in your favor if you're shopping used. A few older and newer years are edging upward, so the pricing picture is mixed rather than uniformly falling. The biggest drops are concentrated in the more recent model years, while some older examples are holding closer to flat or rising slightly.

The 2014 and 2017 model years are holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2015, 2016, and 2024 model years have held their value best, with prices flat to rising year-over-year.
