Lexus’s SUV lineup is expansive, and it covers every major segment on the market today. The NX is the brand’s second-smallest utility vehicle, and Lexus offers it in a wide range of configurations, including with hybrid powertrain options. The standard gas-powered NX delivers a generous list of standard features, a premium interior, and solid fuel economy.

What’s New for the 2024 Lexus NX

The NX enters 2024 mostly unchanged, though Lexus added a few new interior color options that bring unique contrasts to the door panels and upholstery.

Design

The NX is aggressively styled, to the point that it’s surprising there isn’t more performance to match the look. Lexus equips 18-inch wheels as standard, and higher trims add 20-inch rollers, including the F Sport variant, which also has exclusive exterior bodywork and badging.

Powertrain

Lexus offers two gas powertrains in the 2024 NX. The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder making 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. A turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is available that makes 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive (FWD or AWD). With 203 horsepower on tap, the NX’s base engine is competent in most situations, but its star fades a bit on the highway, where reaching cruising speeds takes too long and passing is an exercise in planning and restraint.

Interior

The NX seats five on synthetic leather upholstery, with heated front seats and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Though it’s a small SUV, the NX offers generous passenger space across both rows, albeit with a slightly less accommodating rear seat.

Technology

Lexus equips a 9.8-inch touchscreen as standard, along with a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, dual-zone climate controls, navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, ten speakers, and voice commands. Higher configurations get a 14-inch touchscreen, and buyers can add an upgraded Mark Levinson audio system with 17 speakers. Lexus recently improved its infotainment interface, making it far easier to use than previous versions, and it’s also now less distracting to interact with the SUV while driving.

Safety

The 2024 NX is too new to have been fully crash-tested as of this writing, but the 2023 model earned a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Standard safety tech includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warnings, lane-keep assist, an intersection turning assist system, pedestrian detection, a safe exit warning system, traffic-sign recognition, and more.

Pricing

At the time of publication, the 2024 Lexus NX 250 starts at $40,605, and stepping up to AWD pushes the price to $42,205. The NX 350 AWD starts at $44,365, and the NX 350 F Sport Handling AWD starts at $49,465.
