New Ford Mustang for Sale nearWauseon, OH

How much does the Ford Mustang cost in today's market?

Used Ford Mustang prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Ford Mustang's current nationwide average price is $28,004, and its lowest point over the past year was $25,625. Recently, prices have come down for the 2024 and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the Ford Mustang is a strong pick if you want a used sports car with broad appeal and a long track record of satisfying owners. The all-generations owner rating is 4.6/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Mustang for its powerful performance, fun driving experience, and iconic styling. The variety of engine choices and the sound of the V8s also come up often as major highlights.

Expert reviews rate the 2018 and 2021 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs in recent expert-tested years center on rear-seat space, cargo room, and cabin noise, along with some build-quality concerns in certain model years.

29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Ford Mustang models reliable?

Owners consistently praise the Mustang for its performance, styling, and driving enjoyment, and expert reviews reinforce its strong character and broad appeal. Across the years, the Mustang tends to deliver the kind of experience shoppers expect from an iconic pony car.

• Owners rate the Ford Mustang between 4.4 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is best managed by checking condition carefully and reviewing service history, especially on older examples.

What should I look for when buying a used Ford Mustang?

Across all model years, at 73% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams
• Infotainment: a large 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen with the Sync 4 infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates the four-cylinder EcoBoost will return 22 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 26 mpg in combined driving. The V8-powered GT is rated at 15/24 mpg city/highway and 18 mpg combined with the automatic transmission. The manual transmission drops fuel economy figures by 1 mpg across the board.

Which Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Mustang offers these trims:

• EcoBoost: the entry point with the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 10-speed automatic, and the best-value starting point for shoppers who want Mustang performance at the lowest price
• GT: adds the 5.0-liter V8, a six-speed manual, and the stronger muscle-car character many buyers want
• Dark Horse: brings the top-end performance focus with 500 hp and additional performance enhancements

What Ford Mustang do most buyers choose?

The Ford Mustang years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2023.

Higher-volume model years usually give you more choices, which can make it easier to compare trims, colors, and condition. They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often, so you may find a broader mix of prices and deal quality.

What is the Ford Mustang's resale value?

Most Mustang model years are moving lower year over year, which can work in your favor if you want to buy used. A few years are edging upward, so the market is mixed rather than uniformly falling. The biggest drops are concentrated in the newer and mid-cycle years, while some older examples are holding firmer or rising.

The 2018 and 2024 model years are holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2023, 2022, and 2014 model years have held their value best, with prices flat to rising year-over-year.

Is the Ford Mustang safe?

• 2024: 6/10
• 2021: 9/10
• 2020: 7/10
• 2018: 8/10
• 2016: 9/10
• 2015: 9/10
• 2014: 6/10

Standard safety features for all Mustangs include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams.

For the safest used buy, the 2015, 2016 and 2021 models all post the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Should I buy a used Ford Mustang now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The 2024 Mustang's entry-level engine is the EcoBoost 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. The GT's Coyote 5.0-liter V8 is good for 480 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque.
• Tech: All 2024 Mustangs come with a large 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard along with Amazon Alexa integration.
• Safety: Standard safety features for all Mustangs include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams.
• Starting price: The base 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost has a starting price of $32,515.

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
