Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: The XC90 plug-in hybrid offers up to 33 miles of pure-electric range on a full charge, and the T8 also offers the best fuel economy, at an EPA-rated max of 27 mpg.

Which Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volvo XC90 offers these trims:

• Core: The entry trim is the least-expensive version, and it gives you the XC90’s seven-seat layout with the B5 mild-hybrid powertrain and standard AWD. It’s the best-value starting point if you want the XC90’s core luxury, safety, and family-friendly packaging at the lowest price.
• Plus: This middle trim adds the Orrefors crystal shift knob and opens the door to more upscale interior materials, including quilted Nordico, perforated nappa leather, or herringbone weave textile. It suits you if you want a richer cabin without moving all the way to the top trim.
• Ultra: The top trim adds the 14-speaker Harman Kardon Premium Sound system, a head-up display, and access to the optional 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity audio system. It’s the right choice if you want the most premium XC90 experience and the broadest equipment list.

What Volvo XC90 do most buyers choose?

The Volvo XC90 years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2023.

These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular used picks because they give you more inventory to compare, more pricing spread to shop, and a newer-feeling XC90 experience. They also tend to attract shoppers who want a balance of modern features and broad availability.

What is the Volvo XC90's resale value?

The XC90’s used prices are moving lower across the board, which is good news if you’re shopping for value. The newer model years are still seeing meaningful drops, while older examples are also falling at double-digit rates in most cases. That pattern gives you more room to find a strong deal without giving up the XC90’s upscale character.

The 2024, 2025, and 2016 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Consider waiting if:

• Tech: The infotainment system in the XC90 is still Android-based, with Google Built-In, but Apple CarPlay connectivity is also standard and worked seamlessly when connected both wirelessly and via USB-C cable.
• Safety: The standard advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) operated smoothly, and the XC90 has active collision-avoidance features like intersection auto brake and large animal detection.
• Starting price: Base MSRP for this configuration sits at $59,745 after destination.

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
