About the Volvo V60
About the Volvo V60
Introduced in 2015 and fully redesigned in 2019, the Volvo V60 is one of the handful of vehicles keeping the station wagon segment alive and kicking. This Volvo, with its potent engine lineup, spacious layout, and comfortable cabin, shows that you don’t need to buy an SUV to get a family-friendly vehicle. Competitors include the Audi A4 Allroad and the Subaru Outback, though it’s often cross-shopped with small crossovers, as well.
What are the advantages of the Volvo V60?
- Sophisticated styling
- Tons of space
- Big engine lineup
What is the best Volvo V60 model year?
A 2019 Volvo V60 is a good pick, since that year’s redesign brought Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the mix, but if you want a plug-in hybrid, look for a 2020 model.
What are the disadvantages of the Volvo V60?
- Premium pricing
- Complicated infotainment system
- Base engine isn’t particularly powerful
Comparison: Is the Volvo V60 better than the Subaru Outback XT?

What people say
Dry safe and reliable vehicle for a wagon.
Well designed, good looking, comfortable, versatile and fun to drive.
Love this car. Feels like sports car. Very tight handling. Maybe the tires make it a little too tight for the wife. She prefers soft ride. Love all the electronics. Slight turbo lag and not as fast compared to my former Audi S6, but you get used to it. Bonus, I have not had to replace the transmission, which I did in the S6 twice ($$$ very painful) Have had zero issues repair wise with V60 from 17k miles when I purchased, to 60k today. Does great in snow up here in Minnesota. Sticks in corners in summer. Only not great thing is stereo sucks compared to other vehicles in this price range. But, I figure this is a soccer mom car but i use if for hauling keyboards (band) on weekends to the hinterlands of the midwest and running around town between my two offices during the week. 20k miles per year.
I went and saw the car. Overall it looked great - but closer inspection revealed that it had low profile tires which were clearly well worn - something to be concerned about with only 20,000km. Interior was clean but a little sterile looking, the combination of charcoal and light grey wood trim. The car had the famed Bowers and Wilkens sound system. I had driven a new V60 (2021) car with this system and it had a much better sound - so I question whether the sound system was working correctly. Another disappointment for me - there was no HUD - this is an essential element for any car of this price point. I have a Volvo with a HUD and you get used to using it. It felt like I would be going backwards. Overall - the car was nice, but didnt show or feel as well as other new or second hand Volvo V60 / V90 wagons that I have looked at for a second car.
I like the features the Volvo V60 Momentum offers, simple but effective. The car felt more spacious than it looks especially for the smaller of the two wagons. It had plenty of power and was doing 80 mph before I knew it. The cabin were very comfortable and the seats even more so. it was pretty quiet and the ride quality was quite good. the stereo was quite good too! Over all I am very pleased!
