The Toyota Tacoma's current nationwide average price is $32,145, and its lowest point over the past year was $30,562. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Yes — the Toyota Tacoma has a strong reputation for durability, capability, and long-term value. The all-generations owner rating is 4.53/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, off-road ability, and rugged design, and they also value its resale strength and everyday usefulness. Across the model years, the Tacoma is often described as a dependable truck with a clear identity and broad appeal for both work and recreation.

Are Toyota Tacoma models reliable?

The Tacoma has a long-running reputation for durability, reliability, and strong resale value, and owners repeatedly highlight those traits across the lineup. Expert reviews also reinforce that image by pointing to the truck’s tough construction and long-term appeal.

• Owners rate the Toyota Tacoma between 4.2 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that older trucks can bring more wear and a wider spread in condition, so a careful history check matters.

• SR5: This trim adds a more mainstream setup and is one of the versions that uses the new coil spring multi-link rear suspension, making it a strong value choice for everyday use.
• TRD Pre-Runner: This trim keeps the rear leaf-spring setup and adds a more specialized truck character for buyers who want a distinct setup without moving to the higher off-road trims.

What Toyota Tacoma do most buyers choose?

The Toyota Tacoma years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.

These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular used picks because they give you more inventory to compare and more chances to find the right trim, mileage, and price. They also tend to attract shoppers looking for newer features while still staying within the used market.

What is the Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

Most Tacoma model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want prices that have eased from a year ago. The declines are generally modest, with only one model year showing a gain. That pattern fits the Tacoma’s strong resale reputation while still giving buyers some room to find value.

The 2014, 2021, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
