Used Toyota Prius for Sale nearBismarck, ND

How much does the Toyota Prius cost in today's market?

Used Toyota Prius prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Toyota Prius's current nationwide average price is $18,718, and its lowest point over the past year was $14,726. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023 and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the Toyota Prius is a strong used-car pick if you want efficiency, practicality, and everyday comfort. The all-generations owner rating is 4.7/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Prius for outstanding fuel economy, reliability, and a comfortable ride. Cargo space and safety also come up often as reasons shoppers like it for commuting and daily use.

Expert reviews rate the 2016 and 2024 models among the highest across all years.

The main tradeoffs across recent expert-tested years center on real-world fuel economy falling short of EPA estimates, a cramped back seat, and limited cargo space.

34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Toyota Prius models reliable?

Owners consistently praise the Prius for fuel economy, reliability, and comfort, and expert coverage reinforces its reputation as a practical, durable hybrid. Across the model years in the data, it stands out as a car that fits daily commuting especially well.

• Owners rate the Toyota Prius between 4.3 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is generally tied more to age and hybrid-system wear on older examples than to the Prius nameplate itself.

What should I look for when buying a used Toyota Prius?

Across all model years, at 67.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, Proactive Driving Assist, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic low-speed braking.
• Infotainment: Toyota Audio Multimedia (TAM) infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen on LE, XLE, and Nightshade Edition trim levels, plus a 12.3-inch touchscreen on the Limited and as an option on XLE and Nightshade; wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA gave the Prius Nightshade Edition a 52 mpg rating in the combined, city, and highway categories.

Which Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2025 Toyota Prius offers these trims:

• LE: The entry trim brings the Toyota Audio Multimedia system with an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0; it suits you if you want the most accessible way into the lineup.
• XLE: This trim adds more available comfort and tech flexibility, including the option for the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, making it a strong value if you want a more upscale feel without going to the top trim.
• Nightshade Edition: This trim adds black 19-inch wheels, black exterior trim, and exclusive Karashi paint for a more distinctive look.
• Limited: This trim adds the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen and Drive Connect included for one year, making it the best fit if you want the most feature-rich Prius.

What Toyota Prius do most buyers choose?

The Toyota Prius years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

Higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more choices, which can make it easier to find the right trim, color, and price. They also often attract more deal opportunities simply because there are more listings to compare.

What is the Toyota Prius's resale value?

Most model years are moving only slightly, with several near flat and a few posting modest gains. That mix suggests the Prius remains in demand, especially among buyers who value efficiency and practicality. The sharpest drop is concentrated in the newest model year shown, which can create a better opening for used shoppers.

The 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 model years are holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2015, 2019, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with prices flat to rising year-over-year.
