Should I buy a used Toyota Camry Hybrid now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2023 model is at −3.95% versus a year ago, and the 2022 model is at −3.44%.
- Deal availability: The 2023 model has 34.1% good and great deals, and the 2022 model has 33.8%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $26,745. The Toyota Camry Hybrid offers a roomy cabin, strong fuel economy, and a long record of reliability.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The Camry Hybrid uses a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack tucked underneath the car’s back seat. Net power output is 208 horsepower, and the hybrid system simulates a continuously variable transmission (CVT) to send power to the front wheels.
- Tech: Toyota offers the Camry with a 7-inch or a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Both of them have smartphone connectivity including Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility.
- Safety: Standard safety features include 10 airbags, a rear-seat reminder system, and Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 (TSS 2.5), which encompasses forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control.
- Starting price: New Camry Hybrid prices start at just over $29,000 with destination.
If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for 2025 inventory to mature.

I love this car so much! I do miss the smaller features of my 2014 Ford Fusion like the navigation and sunroof. However, the fuel economy with the Toyota Camry hybrid is better than the fusion and it has many of the features I am already used to. It offers a smooth ride, great connectivity with your phone via Bluetooth, and the adaptive cruise control is great for thruway driving. Overall, I feel this is a great value and I'm happy with my purchase so far!

Smooth ride, comfortable, plenty of room. Great gas mileage. Plenty of tech for people who love that sort of thing. Solid choice. Can’t go wrong with a Camry.

Wanted another Camry hybrid after owning one for 9+ years. Great miles per gallon, reliable, and low maintenance. Can’t compare to other brands as we are loyal Toyota owners, but would highly recommend a Camry hybrid. Chose the XSE over the LE model we had prior for the added amenities (moonroof, leather seats, heated seats, sportier look, etc.). Do know that tires on a hybrid are a little pricier and don’t last as long as the tires we have put on the other Toyotas we own. Appreciate the ‘22 with the Apple CarPlay and the enhanced cruise control and lane monitoring features, etc. This car was a good value overall for its age and mileage. And always feel like a Toyota is a good value as they last so long.

Why it stands out
The 2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid stands out as a mainstream midsize sedan that blends hybrid efficiency with the Camry’s long-running reputation for comfort and ease of ownership. In the third-generation Camry Hybrid section, it is described as having a more upmarket feel than before, along with a different look, while still retaining the core Camry strengths of affordability, practicality, and ease of ownership. It also brought stronger performance than the earlier version, with 208 horsepower from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, plus a CVT and front-wheel drive.
For buyers, the 2021 model is appealing because it offers a well-equipped, user-friendly package without giving up the fuel economy expected of a hybrid. The same section says fuel economy ranged from 46-52 mpg on the EPA combined cycle, depending on spec, and that the hybrid was available in three trims, including Hybrid LE, Hybrid SE, and Hybrid XLE. Standard equipment on the Hybrid LE included LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, a rear-view camera, heated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, and radar cruise control, while the top trim added features such as rear-seat climate control vents, leather upholstery, a head-up display, a blind spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The source notes that the Camry Hybrid is not especially exciting to drive or look at, and the user feedback echoes that some drivers find it lower to the ground than they prefer. Even so, the 2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid’s combination of efficiency, comfort, and generous equipment makes it a strong choice for shoppers who want a sensible hybrid sedan rather than something flashy.
