Why it stands out
The 2024 RAM 3500 stands out as a heavy-duty truck that blends serious capability with the kind of equipment buyers now expect in a daily driver. In this generation, Ram focused heavily on luxury and technology, and the truck gained features such as LED lighting, a more aerodynamic design, a stronger frame, new suspension, and a new transmission for the Hemi models. It also offers a 12-inch vertical infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, and a 750-watt Harman Kardon 17-speaker audio system.
Capability remains the core of its appeal. The High-Output 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel inline six delivered 1,000 pound-feet of torque when it was introduced in 2019, and torque later increased to 1,075 lb-ft in 2021 and 1,150 lb-ft in 2024. Properly equipped, the truck can tow more than 35,000 pounds and carry nearly 8,000 pounds of payload. Ram also added lane keep assist, adaptive steering, and blind-spot monitoring in 2019, while 2023 brought a refresh with a new digital cluster, an upgraded camera system, and a new trailer reverse steering system.
For buyers, the 2024 RAM 3500 is appealing because it combines massive towing and payload numbers with a cabin and feature set that feel far more modern than a traditional work truck. It is also available in multiple cab configurations, bed lengths, and drivetrains, with optional dual rear wheels. The main tradeoffs are its gargantuan proportions, a noisy diesel engine, and limited safety technology compared with some expectations in this class.
