What should I look for when buying a used Mercedes-Benz CLS?

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Driver Assistance Package

• Infotainment: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

• Fuel efficiency: 24 mpg city, 31 highway, and 26 combined. Adding 4Matic all-wheel drive knocks those numbers down to 23/30/26, and the AMG 53 4Matic returns 21/27/23.

Which Mercedes-Benz CLS trim should I buy?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS offers these trims:

• CLS 450 4Matic: This is the base car and the best-value trim, pairing the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 with a 48-volt hybrid system, a 9-speed automatic transmission, and adaptive air suspension for a smooth, composed ride.
• AMG CLS 53: This trim adds the higher-output AMG setup with 429 hp and 384 lb-ft, plus an electric compressor for stronger performance.

What Mercedes-Benz CLS do most buyers choose?

The Mercedes-Benz CLS years with the most listings are 2020, 2015, and 2019.

Higher-volume years tend to draw more shoppers because they usually offer a broader selection of prices, conditions, and equipment. That makes it easier to compare options and find a car that fits your budget and priorities.

What is the Mercedes-Benz CLS's resale value?

Most of the listed model years have moved lower over the past year, which can create better opportunities for used buyers. One year has edged up, but the overall pattern still points to softer pricing across much of the range.

The 2016, 2015, and 2019 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Mercedes-Benz CLS safe?

• 2019: 10/10

The 2019 model includes a driver-assistance suite with pedestrian and blind-spot detection, front and rear cross-traffic alerts, forward-collision alert, auto braking, and a driver-attention monitor.
