Used 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS cost?

Prices have softened 9.80% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 206 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS a good car?

Yes — 5/5 from users, and the expert rating is 8.2/10. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The 2019 CLS leans hard into style, with a curvy, dramatic shape and a cabin that feels richly finished and highly customized. It also aims to deliver strong technology and powertrain sophistication, which fits a luxury sedan that wants to stand out.

The trade-offs are real: the back seat is cramped, the technology can be unintuitive, and the value proposition is weak compared with what you might expect in this class. Even so, the ride quality is a highlight, and the standard advanced safety features help round out the package.

Good and great deals account for 34.5% of listings, so there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 CLS is presented as a well-engineered luxury sedan with a smooth, sophisticated powertrain and a ride tuned for comfort. Its hybrid-assisted inline-six setup is described as technically impressive, and the cabin and chassis are built around a premium ownership experience.

The powertrain is designed to reduce startup shake and keep stop-start operation smooth, while the 48-volt system helps support accessories and seamless restarts. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which is a useful ownership perk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that expensive options and complex technology can make repairs and upkeep more costly if the car has been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS?

At 65% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has advanced driver-assistance equipment or expensive options. Pay close attention to the condition of the electronics, the ride quality, and any signs of prior bodywork or wheel damage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CLS is described as a striking, highly styled luxury sedan with a lavish interior, ambient lighting, and a design-focused cabin. Base cars already bring a strong visual and comfort statement, so the main question is whether the example you’re considering has the premium features you want.
• Powertrain: The CLS 450 4Matic uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 48-volt hybrid system and a 9-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and 4Matic all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: The Driver Assistance Package adds one of the best semi-autonomous systems in the business, with steering and braking assistance, lane changes by signal, speed-limit adaptation, and curve/intersection/exit-ramp slowing. Some features can still behave awkwardly, so test them carefully.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a non-touchscreen setup with customizable instrument-panel layouts, standard navigation with three years of map updates and live traffic, and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Onboard Wi-Fi and wireless charging are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The rear-wheel-drive CLS 450 is rated at 24 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, while the 4Matic version is rated at 23 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.

Which 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS trim should I buy?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS is offered in 2 trim levels: CLS 450 and CLS 450 4Matic.

Here's the short version:

• CLS 450: This is the better-value starting point if you want the CLS experience with the core powertrain, luxury design, and standard safety and tech features. It gives you the style and comfort that define the car without pushing you into the higher-priced all-wheel-drive version.
• CLS 450 4Matic: Choose this if you want all-wheel drive for added traction and a more secure feel in poor weather. It adds capability, but the rest of the CLS formula remains the same, so it makes the most sense if AWD matters to you.

The standard safety package includes advanced driver-assistance features, and the available Driver Assistance Package adds more semi-autonomous capability.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 206 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.80% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,758, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS's resale value?

The current average of $29,758 sits slightly below last year's $32,991.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car more attractive to used buyers but less favorable for a seller trying to maximize return. If you own one, pricing it competitively will matter, especially because the model’s value proposition is already described as weak relative to expectations in this class.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS safe?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS has not been rated by NHTSA or IIHS, but it comes with a strong standard safety suite and is expected to perform well based on the related E-Class platform.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard equipment includes pedestrian and blind-spot detection, front and rear cross-traffic alerts, forward-collision alert, auto braking, a driver-attention monitor, advanced steering assistance, Car-to-X road-warning networking, and a system that can help limit the effects of crosswinds. It can also prepare the cabin for an impending rear impact by adjusting the seat, closing the windows, and flashing the hazards.

The available Driver Assistance Package adds more advanced semi-autonomous capability, but some of those features can be imperfect in real-world use. If you want the most confidence, make sure the car you’re considering has the safety equipment you expect and test the driver-assistance behavior on a drive.

Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its striking styling, strong ride quality, and standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive version of the CLS formula, the 2019 is the one to target because it combines standout design with strong safety content and a softer used-market price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, shop carefully for the best-condition example rather than stretching for a newer or more heavily optioned car.
