Used 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS cost?

Prices have softened 8.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 214 listings available, which gives you a modest pool to compare before you decide.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating and 8.17/10 expert rating point to a model that lands well with shoppers and our editors alike. The CLS stands out for its striking styling, and it backs that up with strong technology, powertrain sophistication, and standard advanced safety features.

The trade-offs are real, though: the back seat is cramped, the technology can be unintuitive, and value for money is a weak spot.

The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

With 35.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively if you want the right combination of price and equipment.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The CLS is described as a richly appointed, technically proficient luxury car, and its powertrain is presented as smooth and advanced, with a 48-volt hybrid setup that helps reduce startup shake and keep stop-start operation refined.

That said, the car’s complexity and high-end hardware can make ownership less forgiving if you buy a neglected example, so a careful inspection matters more than usual on the used market.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS?

At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has expensive options or visible wheel and bodywork wear. Focus on overall condition, because this is a high-end model where repairs and replacement parts can be costly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CLS is presented as a highly styled luxury sedan with a lavish interior, ambient lighting, and a designo cabin option that adds more upscale materials and detailing. The base car already brings a rich look and feel, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the most value.
• Powertrain: The CLS 450 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 with a 48-volt hybrid system, and the setup is described as smooth, refined, and capable of adding extra electric boost when needed. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and 4Matic all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: The Driver Assistance Package adds one of the best semi-autonomous systems in the business, with steering and braking support, lane changes when you hold the signal, and speed adaptation for curves, intersections, and exit ramps. Standard safety equipment includes pedestrian and blind-spot detection, front and rear cross-traffic alerts, forward-collision alert, auto braking, and a driver-attention monitor.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a configurable digital instrument panel rather than a touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. Standard navigation includes three years of map updates and live traffic, while onboard Wi-Fi and wireless charging are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The rear-wheel-drive CLS 450 is rated at 24 mpg city, 31 highway, and 26 combined, while the 4Matic version is rated at 23/30/26.

Which 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS trim should I buy?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS is offered in 2 trim levels: CLS 450 and CLS 450 4Matic.

Here's the short version:

• CLS 450: This is the better-value choice if you want the CLS experience with the standard rear-wheel-drive setup and the full blend of style, smooth power, and luxury features. It gives you the core character of the car without paying extra for all-wheel drive.
• CLS 450 4Matic: Choose this if you want the added traction of all-wheel drive and are willing to pay more for it. It keeps the same upscale personality while adding confidence in lower-grip conditions.

The Driver Assistance Package is optional, so make sure you compare listings carefully if advanced driver assistance matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 214 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.04% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,268, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS's resale value?

The current average of $30,341 sits slightly below last year's $32,993.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. The CLS also carries a reputation for expensive options and average resale value, so condition and equipment will matter a lot when it comes time to sell. If you buy well and keep the car in strong shape, you can still protect more of its value than a neglected example would.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS safe?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS has not been rated by IIHS or NHTSA, but it earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes with a strong standard safety suite that includes pedestrian and blind-spot detection, front and rear cross-traffic alerts, forward-collision alert, auto braking, a driver-attention monitor, advanced steering support, and a system that can prepare the cabin if a rear impact is imminent. Car-to-X connected warnings are also standard, and an optional system can help reduce the effects of side impacts by inflating the seat bolsters.

The main caveat is that the available driver-assistance system can be inconsistent in real-world use, so you should test it carefully if you plan to rely on it often.

Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its striking styling, strong technology, and standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive version of this generation and you value the 2019’s styling, tech, and safety package, this is the year to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, you should focus on the best-condition listing rather than chasing a specific badge or option set, because the market already gives you some leverage and the right example matters more than a small difference in model year.
