The Mazda CX-5's current nationwide average price is $23,804, and its nationwide average price reached a low of $21,540 over the past year.

Recently, prices have come down for the 2023 and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: adaptive cruise control with speed limit assist, automatic emergency braking with Turn-Across Traffic detection and Head-On Collision Mitigation, rear automatic emergency braking with rear cross-traffic alert and pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitors, vehicle exit warning, driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, and dynamic guidelines for the mandatory rear-view camera
• Infotainment: a 12.9-inch touchscreen on all trims except the top-tier Premium Plus, which gets a 15.6-inch unit, plus Google built-in, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: 24 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 26 combined mpg

Which Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 offers these trims:

• 2.5 S: the entry trim starts the lineup at $29,990 and includes AWD, Google built-in, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, and a comprehensive standard safety suite.
• 2.5 S Preferred: this is the best-value trim at $34,250, adding 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, a head-up display, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 10-way power driver's seat with memory.
• Premium: this trim adds a Bose 12-speaker audio system and SiriusXM satellite radio.
• Premium Plus: the top trim brings a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 360-degree View Monitor with underfloor and parking views, a Driver Monitoring system, rear USB-C ports, paddle shifters, and additional safety tech.

What Mazda CX-5 do most buyers choose?

The Mazda CX-5 years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2026.

These high-volume years tend to be popular because they give you the broadest mix of availability, pricing, and trim choices. They also sit close enough to the newest models to deliver modern features while still offering used-car savings.

What is the Mazda CX-5's resale value?

Most model years are down year over year, which creates better buying opportunities for used shoppers. A few years are moving up, so pricing is not falling uniformly across the lineup. The biggest drops are concentrated in the newer and mid-cycle years, while some older examples are holding firmer.

The 2014 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2015, 2016, and 2024 model years have held their value best, with prices flat to rising year-over-year.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The carryover SkyActiv-G 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder produces 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, and the EPA rates the CX-5 at 24 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 26 combined mpg.
• Tech: Google built-in comes standard across the lineup, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available, with wireless support on the Select trim and everything above it.
• Safety: The latest model adds front cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, Cruising & Traffic Support with Lane-Change Assist, a driver monitoring system, and a 360-degree View Monitor camera system.
• Starting price: The lineup starts at $29,990.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
