Why it stands out
The 2024 Mazda CX-5 stands out in the compact SUV market thanks to its stylish design and sporty handling, which make it a delight to drive. With a premium-quality interior and a comprehensive suite of safety features, it caters perfectly to active urbanites seeking both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Despite sharing showroom space with the newer CX-50, the CX-5 continues to be a top-selling choice, demonstrating its enduring popularity and well-rounded capabilities.
Other model years to consider
The 2018 and 2019 Mazda CX-5 model years are good alternatives for buyers looking for a balance of price, user satisfaction, and deal availability. The 2018 model offers an average price of $16,822.15 with 43% of listings classified as good or great deals, while maintaining a high user rating of 4.8/5. Similarly, the 2019 model is slightly more expensive at $18,935.70 but boasts a comparable user rating of 4.8/5 and a solid 40% of deals considered favorable.
Model years to approach with caution
When evaluating the Mazda CX-5 across different model years, buyers should consider both market positioning and user feedback trends. The 2015 model stands out as most suitable due to its high user rating of 4.8/5, despite a significant percentage of listings classified as not good/great deals. Meanwhile, the 2021 model offers a slightly higher expert rating at 7.5/10 but has a comparable user rating and a higher average price, indicating that buyers may want to weigh value against performance features.
On the other hand, older models like the 2013 and 2014 versions present less favorable user ratings and deal classifications, suggesting they may be less optimal choices for buyers seeking reliability and value in their purchase decision. As market dynamics evolve, prospective buyers should carefully assess these factors to ensure their investment aligns with their preferences and budget considerations.

Overall, owners of the Mazda CX-5 appreciate its luxurious feel, comfortable ride, and strong performance. Many love the stylish interiors and advanced safety features, making it a great choice for families. However, some drivers have noted concerns about limited cargo space and engine power, especially with the base models, along with some frustrations regarding infotainment systems. Despite these few drawbacks, the Mazda CX-5 is often praised for its value and driving enjoyment.

What people say
Fantastic ride and comfort. It also looks nice and timeless.
I had been told to stick to Honda or Toyota for a practical car but I was frustrated having to go higher trims to get my dealbreakers like keyless entry or power seats. I also hadn’t been a fan of SUVs but wanted more cargo space, so I was looking for hatchbacks, but they are so hard to find. Thankfully a friend with this car suggested I try it- I was floored to see how many reasonably priced barely used options I had! And more importantly, the BASE model has everything I could want- keyless entry, power seats, heated seats, a great screen, and so much cargo space. I was comfortable driving this IMMEDIATELY despite never having an SUV. The seats being leather trim with suede centers are truly the best of both worlds. And I could care less than it doesn’t have a touch screen, because the control knob is amazing. I love that the base model has all these perks without a moonroof, which I truly did not want. The only downside I can think of is a less than stellar fuel economy, but I just don’t drive long enough distances for that to be much of a concern for me personally..
This is our second Mazda CX-5. Our 2015 model is still in excellent shape and we gifted it to our daughter. Our new 2024 Mazda CX-5 GS is wonderful! Luxurious, smooth ride, peppy engine, very comfortable. We love it! Friends who have driven with us thought we must have paid over $10,000 more than we did!
Perfect amount of features and luxury for me. Sleek design. Smooth and quiet ride.
So far I love everything about it! Love the cooling seats as well!
