Used Hyundai Tucson for Sale nearArmour, SD

How much does the Hyundai Tucson cost in today's market?

Used Hyundai Tucson prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Hyundai Tucson's current nationwide average price is $20,579, and its lowest point over the past year was $19,450. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023 and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Hyundai Tucson a good car?

Yes — the Hyundai Tucson is a strong used-car pick if you want a compact SUV that emphasizes value, comfort, and a well-equipped cabin. The all-generations owner rating is 4.52/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Tucson for its spacious interior, smooth ride, and overall value for money. They also like the modern tech and the sense that it delivers a lot of equipment for the price, which helps explain its broad appeal to families and everyday drivers.

Expert reviews rate the 2024 and 2022 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs that show up in recent expert reviews are the slower powertrain, the infotainment system’s learning curve in some trims, and the way some higher-trim controls take time to get used to.

37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Hyundai Tucson models reliable?

Owners and experts consistently point to the Tucson’s comfort, practicality, and strong value as core strengths. Across the lineup, shoppers also tend to appreciate the roomy cabin, smooth ride, and useful feature content that make it easy to live with every day.

• Owners rate the Hyundai Tucson between 3.67 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership picture is strongest when you focus on well-kept examples with clean history reports and service records.

What should I look for when buying a used Hyundai Tucson?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 81.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense driver assistance suite
• Infotainment: 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: The most fuel-efficient version of the 2024 Hyundai Tucson is the front-wheel-drive (FWD) model. It returns EPA fuel-economy estimates of 25 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. The AWD model returns 23 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined.

Which Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?

The 2024 Hyundai Tucson offers these trims:

• SE: The entry trim includes 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, two USB ports, remote keyless entry, a manually adjustable driver’s seat, HD radio, power windows, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. It’s the best-value starting point if you want the Tucson’s core strengths at the lowest price.
• SEL: This trim adds push-button start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, and two more USB ports. It’s a smart step up if you want more everyday convenience.
• XRT: This trim adds unique black 19-inch alloy wheels, side steps, dark exterior trim, functional roof racks, and the features from the SEL Convenience Package, including synthetic leather upholstery. It suits you if you want a more rugged-looking Tucson with extra equipment.
• Limited: The top trim adds upgraded headlights, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, genuine leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, an upgraded Bose premium stereo system, memory settings for the driver’s seat, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera system, Hyundai’s Smart Park remote-parking feature, and a blind-spot camera system.

What Hyundai Tucson do most buyers choose?

The Hyundai Tucson years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

Higher-volume years usually give you more choices on trim, mileage, and condition, which makes it easier to compare listings and find a price that fits your budget. They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often because inventory is deeper and deal percentages stay competitive.

What is the Hyundai Tucson's resale value?

Most Tucson model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want to stretch your budget. The biggest drops are concentrated in newer and mid-cycle years, while a few older examples are declining more gradually. One recent model year is essentially flat, which suggests especially steady pricing at the top end of the used market.

The 2024 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2024, 2018, and 2015 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Hyundai Tucson safe?

• 2024: 10/10
• 2022: 9/10
• 2021: 8/10
• 2016: 10/10

A number of driver assistance features come standard on the Hyundai Tucson, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

For the safest used buy, the 2016 and 2024 models both post the highest confirmed score of 10/10.

Should I buy a used Hyundai Tucson now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −10.96% versus a year ago, and the 2023 model is at −4.09%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 39.4% good and great deals, and the 2023 model has 38.4%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $23,489. The Hyundai Tucson offers a roomy cabin, comfortable ride quality, and a practical, well-rounded character that makes it easy to live with every day.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The 2024 Hyundai Tucson comes equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It develops 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through an eight-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels or available all-wheel drive (AWD).
• Tech: The standard infotainment system includes an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, and the SEL Convenience Package, XRT, and Limited trims all come with a fully digital instrument panel and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen.
• Safety: A number of driver assistance features come standard on the Hyundai Tucson, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Starting price: Base MSRP for the 2024 Hyundai Tucson is $27,250 for the SE trim.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
