What should I look for when buying a used Honda Odyssey?

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2023 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Honda Sensing
• Infotainment: a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging
• Fuel efficiency: According to the EPA, the 2025 Odyssey should get 22 mpg in combined driving.

Which Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2025 Honda Odyssey offers these trims:

• EX-L: This is the entry point for 2025, and it gives you the Odyssey’s core family-friendly setup with the model’s practical cabin and everyday usability.
• Sport-L: This trim adds a sportier appearance and sits above EX-L for shoppers who want a more distinctive look.
• Touring: This trim adds the rear entertainment setup and front and rear parking sensors, making it a strong choice if you want more convenience and family-focused equipment.
• Elite: This is the top trim, adding the most upscale equipment and the fullest feature set for buyers who want the most premium Odyssey experience.

What Honda Odyssey do most buyers choose?

The Honda Odyssey years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

Higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, more pricing competition among sellers, and a better chance of finding the trim and condition you want. They also often line up with newer features and broader shopper interest.

What is the Honda Odyssey's resale value?

Most Odyssey model years are falling in price year over year, and several recent years show double-digit declines. That creates a favorable setup for used buyers, especially if you are shopping newer model years that have already moved down from their prior pricing peaks. The smaller declines on older years suggest those models are changing more gradually in the market.

The 2015, 2016, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Honda Odyssey safe?

Should I buy a used Honda Odyssey now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −17.48% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −8.23%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 39.7% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 40.1%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $34,973. The Honda Odyssey offers a spacious, family-friendly cabin with a long-standing focus on comfort and everyday practicality.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Under its stubby hood, you’ll find a tried-and-true 3.5-liter V6 engine making 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, and according to the EPA, the 2025 Odyssey should get 22 mpg in combined driving.
• Tech: A new 7-inch digital driver display pairs with an analog speedometer, and the minivan adds a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a faster processor for quicker response to inputs.
• Safety: Every 2025 Odyssey has Honda Sensing, a collection of driving-assistance systems, and the Touring and Elite add front and rear parking sensors.
• Starting price: For 2025, the Odyssey comes in EX-L, Sport-L, Touring, and Elite trim levels, with the most affordable version of the Odyssey jumping higher in price, to $42,220 from $38,240 for last year’s EX model.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
