Which Ford Bronco Sport trim should I buy?
The 2025 Ford Bronco Sport offers these trims:
- Big Bend: This is the entry point and the best-value trim, with the 1.5-liter turbo-three engine, standard all-wheel drive, and the core Bronco Sport formula for shoppers who want the model’s rugged character at the lowest starting price.
- Free Wheeling: This trim adds a design-focused look for buyers who want more personality and visual flair.
- Heritage: This trim adds a design-focused retro-inspired appearance for shoppers who want a more distinctive style.
- Outer Banks: This trim adds a more upscale feel and is also one of the trims that can be paired with the Sasquatch Package for added off-road hardware.
- Badlands: This is the most capability-focused trim, adding the 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, Bilstein position-sensitive dampers, an upgraded cooling fan, and an auxiliary oil cooler, along with the strongest off-road setup in the lineup.
What Ford Bronco Sport do most buyers choose?
The Ford Bronco Sport years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2022.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 6,845 | 33.6% |
| 2023 | 5,996 | 33.4% |
| 2022 | 5,473 | 33.2% |

| 2021 | 3,162 | 33.6% |
| 2026 | 2,837 | 34.2% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right trim, mileage, and price combination. They also often sit in the sweet spot between newer features and lower used-car pricing.

| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|

| 2024 | $27,079 | −7.1% |

Most model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want to stretch your budget further. The biggest drops are in the double digits, while the newer recent years show smaller declines. That pattern suggests recent inventory is becoming more attractive for buyers.
The 2023, 2024, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Customers say
The Ford Bronco Sport has generally won over owners across all model years, with many praising its smooth ride, spacious interiors, and stylish design. The vehicle offers a good balance of comfort, fuel economy, and off-road capability, making it appealing for adventurous drivers. However, some owners have noted issues such as a lack of interior quality, limited color options, and high pricing, particularly when compared to rivals. The overall luxury feel at a reasonable price remains a positive highlight for many.

The ford app is awesome, such an upgrade from my old car with the ability to start from the app. The only thing in this model I would say is heated seats but that is just cosmetic things.

Exceeded my expectations - the car in with this trim with this engine are impressive enough. But with the added options, it’s amazing. Looks good on the road and driving experience is good.

I absolutely love, love, love my new to me car! I’m a simple kind of girl (so I’ve been told), so the heated seats, CarPlay, and reverse camera were really the only features I wanted! But, I love the “Cyber Orange” or as the my 12 year old puts it “Potassium”! 🤣

It was hard to find one with a sunroof (a MUST for me) and I feel like the navy interior is not the best match for the Cactus Grey exterior color. But the vehicle is fun and it's growing on me. Doesn't have the comfort (by way of multi-point seat adjustments) that my last car did so comfort gets a b. Also the dial takes some getting used to. Having the "modes" dial so close to the "shift" dial has caused me to shift into the wrong gear a couple of times while driving. The engine seems to comprehend this and di not shift from Drive to Neutral despite me turning it to that at 55 mph. My only other complaint is, since I wanted the luxury features of the Outer Banks, why not offer a power lift gate for the back? Makes no sense. But luckily it is a lightweight gate so not really a problem. Just will miss that convenience when I'm walking to my car with a bag of groceries. It's a fun little truck and super cute. Watch out; you'll start wanting to personalize it. :)

Why it stands out
The 2022 Ford Bronco Sport stands out as a smaller, more affordable take on the Bronco formula, with a boxy shape and a more rugged personality than many subcompact SUVs. It shares its unibody construction with the Ford Escape, but it is positioned as a more adventure-ready vehicle with generous ground clearance and a robust all-wheel-drive system. That blend of everyday usability and weekend-ready character is a big part of its appeal, especially for buyers who want something practical without giving up a sense of style or off-road credibility.
It also has a strong personality inside. The Bronco Sport’s clever touches include a washable rubberized floor, a safari-style roof for extra cargo height, molle straps on the front seat backs, and a built-in bottle opener in the liftgate. For 2022, the First Edition trim was discontinued, but the model still offered the kind of equipment that helps it feel distinctive, including standard all-wheel drive, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Ford’s Co-Pilot360 safety suite. Owners also praise its handling, comfort, features, fuel economy, and off-road capability, though some note high pricing, limited color choices, and interior design concerns.
For buyers who want a compact SUV that can handle commuting during the week and outdoor trips on the weekend, the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport makes a convincing case. Its strengths are its character, useful features, and capability, while its drawbacks are mostly about value and cabin presentation rather than the core mission.
