What BMW X5 do most buyers choose?
The BMW X5 years with the most listings are 2025, 2026, and 2023.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|

| 2024 | $50,740 | −9.57% |

Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: BMW offers a variety of six-cylinder and eight-cylinder powertrains in the X5. Our M60i test car was equipped with a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, accelerating to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, according to BMW. That speed is courtesy of 532 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, and thanks to the standard xDrive AWD and the test model’s 22-inch wheels and staggered-width Pirelli P Zero performance tires, it gets to the ground without any drama.
- Tech: The X5’s BMW Curved Display contains a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 14.9-inch touchscreen under a single, sweeping piece of glass. The iDrive 8.5 infotainment system is well stocked with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L satellite radio, and a cloud-based navigation system.
- Safety: The 2026 BMW X5 comes standard with high-beam assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, active blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, a speed limit assistant, a driver monitoring system, a collision preparation system, post-collision braking, and parking sensors in the front, to the side, and at the rear.
- Starting price: Prices range from $69,750 to $132,450, including the $1,450 destination charge.
If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

One of the best vehicles I have ever owned. From the older BMWs to the newer Cadillacs. Technology is outstanding. There are things I haven’t even done yet. Great investment.

I think this car is way too overpriced for the features and the condition. Considering it has almost 90k miles, and with the base packaging, this should be somewhere around 16-18k at the dealership assuming no technical or mechanical issues observed with the car. Almost 21k is crazy. The car does not have: M package Premium plus package, whatever that was called that gives you multi controllable seats, shade screens on the back 360 camera and all the other good stuff. The car seemed factory base model, with no features. So 21k is way too expensive.

The SUV exceeds our expectations. From comfort to safety to style this BMW hit all points! My wife loves the sensors around the vehicle making her aware of any obstacles before incident. Overall this was our number one choice and happy with it. We also looked at the XC90, Grand Cherokee, GV80.

CarGurus recommends the 2025 BMW X5
Summary
With 5,327 currently listed for sale and an average price of $57,358, 35.7% of 2025 BMW X5 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2025 BMW X5 remains an important part of BMW’s lineup, and it stands out as the brand’s midsize luxury SUV. It sits between the X3 and X7, and it shares its segment with a long list of rivals, which underscores how competitive this class is. Even so, the X5’s appeal is easy to understand: it offers multiple powertrain options, strong handling, and a comfortable driving experience.
For 2025, the X5 celebrates its 25th anniversary with a limited-edition model, but otherwise receives no other changes following a substantial update for the 2024 model year. That means buyers are looking at a version of the X5 that is already well established rather than newly reinvented. Its main drawbacks are also clear: it is not the strongest value compared with rivals, and advanced safety features are not standard.
