Is the BMW 7 Series a good car?

Yes — the BMW 7 Series is a strong pick if you want a flagship sedan that blends luxury, comfort, and a distinctly sporty character. The all-generations owner rating is 4.5/5 across every model year in the data.

Are BMW 7 Series models reliable?

Owners consistently praise the BMW 7 Series for its powerful engines, comfortable ride, upscale cabin, and advanced technology. Expert coverage also points to a well-cushioned ride and a strong sense of refinement, especially in the newest model year.

• Owners rate the BMW 7 Series between 1 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership can bring higher repair and maintenance exposure than you might expect from a mainstream sedan, so a thorough inspection and service-history review are especially important.

What should I look for when buying a used BMW 7 Series?

What BMW 7 Series do most buyers choose?

The BMW 7 Series years with the most listings are 2023, 2022, and 2025.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right color, equipment, and price. They also often sit in the sweet spot between newer features and more accessible used pricing.

What is the BMW 7 Series's resale value?

The table shows broad year-over-year price declines across the lineup, which can work in your favor if you’re shopping used. The newest model years are seeing especially steep drops, while older examples are also moving down at a double-digit pace in most cases. That creates opportunities across a wide range of budgets.

The 2016, 2014, and 2015 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
