The BMW 7 Series' current nationwide average price is $42,883, and its lowest point over the past year was $40,082. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the BMW 7 Series a good car?

Yes — the BMW 7 Series is a strong pick if you want a flagship sedan that blends luxury, comfort, and driving enjoyment. The all-generations owner rating is 4.5/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the spacious, luxurious cabin, the powerful and varied powertrains, and the comfortable ride. They also repeatedly highlight the model’s upscale feel and advanced technology, especially on long drives.

Are BMW 7 Series models reliable?

Owners and experts consistently point to the BMW 7 Series’ luxurious cabin, strong performance, and advanced technology as its biggest strengths. Across the model years, it also earns praise for comfort, spaciousness, and a refined driving experience.

• Owners rate the BMW 7 Series between 1 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk can be higher than average because the car’s complexity and premium equipment can make repairs and upkeep more expensive over time.

What should I look for when buying a used BMW 7 Series?

Across all model years, at 74.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

What BMW 7 Series do most buyers choose?

The BMW 7 Series years with the most listings are 2023, 2022, and 2024.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you a strong mix of availability, pricing, and deal opportunities. They also sit close enough to the current generation to deliver the modern features many used luxury-sedan shoppers want.

What is the BMW 7 Series's resale value?

The table shows broad year-over-year price declines across every model year listed. That pattern is good news if you’re shopping used, because it means many versions have become more affordable over the past year. The largest drops are concentrated in the newer model years, while the smaller declines are still meaningful but less severe.

The 2016, 2021, and 2020 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
