Why it stands out
The 2019 Audi S4 stands out as a performance sedan that blends strong straight-line speed with everyday refinement. It uses a 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged V6 producing 354 ponies and 369 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. Audi says that setup is good for a zero-to-60-mph time of 4.4 seconds, and the car also rides very smoothly for a performance sedan. It is not as athletic a handler as cars like the BMW M340i or Mercedes-AMG C43, but it still delivers plenty of thrust and remains fun to drive.
The 2019 model also brings a well-equipped cabin and useful technology. Audi’s Virtual Cockpit is part of the package, along with Google navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, low-speed forward-collision warning, and emergency braking. A new base Premium trim joined the lineup for 2019, though adaptive cruise control still cost extra, so not every used example will have it. That makes the 2019 Audi S4 appealing to buyers who want a fast, upscale sedan with a strong feature set and standard all-wheel drive.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The S4 is not the most exciting vehicle in its class, and Audi’s reliability is rated below average by RepairPal. It also depreciates quickly, which can make it a better used-car value than a new-car proposition.
