Is the Acura MDX a good car?
Yes — the Acura MDX is a strong used pick if you want a three-row luxury SUV that blends comfort, practicality, and a polished driving feel. The all-generations owner rating is 4.57/5 across every model year in the data.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership picture looks encouraging, especially if you choose a well-kept example with a clean history and service records.
What should I look for when buying a used Acura MDX?
Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 78.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
| Model Year | Accident-Free % |
|---|---|
| 2026 | 95.9% |
| 2025 | 92.8% |

| 2017 | 60.4% |
| 2016 | 59.8% |
| 2015 | 57.5% |
| 2014 | 58.6% |
Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: AcuraWatch
- Infotainment: a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Amazon Alexa Built-in and Google Built-in, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto
- Fuel efficiency: While the official EPA fuel economy estimate is 21 mpg combined, we observed 17.9 mpg on our SoCal evaluation loop. Prior to that, over 160 miles of driving, the MDX averaged 19.2 mpg, including a 100-mile round-trip to Pasadena on free-flowing freeways.
Which Acura MDX trim should I buy?
The 2026 Acura MDX offers these trims:
- MDX: The entry model starts the lineup with the core MDX formula and is the best-value choice if you want the model’s main strengths without moving up the range.
- Technology: Adds the Technology Package, which brings a step up in equipment and is a smart pick if you want more convenience and tech.
- A-Spec: Adds blacked-out wheels and exterior trim, subtle styling changes, and bolder interior treatments with leather and artificial suede.
- Advance: Adds a more upscale equipment set for buyers who want a richer luxury feel.
- A-Spec Advance: Combines the A-Spec styling treatment with the Advance equipment, making it the most appealing all-around choice for shoppers who want style and content together.
- Type S Advance: Adds the more powerful turbocharged engine and other performance upgrades for buyers who want the strongest MDX experience.
What Acura MDX do most buyers choose?
The Acura MDX years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2023.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 3,383 | 38.8% |
| 2024 | 2,972 | 38.2% |
| 2023 | 2,832 | 38.1% |
| 2026 | 2,114 | 38.8% |
| 2022 | 1,563 | 37.7% |
| 2019 | 1,299 | 35.5% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you the broadest mix of availability, pricing, and deal opportunities. They also sit close enough to the current model to deliver newer features while still offering used-car value.
What is the Acura MDX's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | $47,553 | −10.96% |
| 2024 | $41,365 | −9.74% |
| 2022 | $33,873 | −9.43% |
| 2020 | $23,869 | −8.75% |
| 2019 | $21,210 | −8.73% |
| 2017 | $17,148 | −7.95% |
| 2023 | $38,496 | −7.89% |
| 2015 | $13,099 | −6.68% |
| 2014 | $12,144 | −6.6% |
| 2018 | $19,134 | −6.28% |
| 2016 | $14,468 | −5.52% |
Most MDX model years are down year over year, which creates better opportunities for used buyers across the lineup. The newer models show the steepest drops, while older examples generally move down more gradually. That pattern suggests you can find stronger value in recent used MDX listings without giving up the core strengths that define the model.
The 2016, 2018, and 2014 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: Most MDX models have a 3.5-liter V6 engine under their hoods. It generates 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, and pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission and Acura’s Integrated Dynamics System driving modes, including Snow, Comfort, Normal, and Sport.
- Tech: A 12.3-inch digital instrumentation display pairs with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 10.5-inch head-up display is also available.
- Safety: Acura bundles most of the MDX’s driver aids into a package called AcuraWatch.
- Starting price: Prices range from $53,150 to $77,200, including the $1,350 destination charge.
If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

This car, the Acura MDX is a total surprise to me. The features are sophisticated and just the right amount of technology and swag that makes it an eye catching bang for my bucks. I came out of a Tahoe with great features and good looks that turned heads and attracted inquiries. My MDX is getting so many compliments and attention from my friends, family, and group members because the maintenance record was impressive and it has the look of luxury; it's a stylish vehicle, that boasts reliability second only to Toyota Lexus. I enjoy driving the MDX and the only thing missing is free oil changes.

Why it stands out
The 2025 Acura MDX stands out as a refreshed three-row luxury SUV that leans into simplicity, sophistication, and refinement. It is described as stylish, comfortable, and easy to use, with updates that make it more appealing than before. For shoppers who want a luxury SUV with straightforward controls and intuitive technology, that combination is a major part of its appeal.
At the same time, the MDX is not without drawbacks. Its fuel economy is called poor, and the standard V6 engine is described as somewhat underwhelming. The third row is also cramped, which is worth keeping in mind for buyers who plan to use all three rows regularly. Even so, the 2025 Acura MDX remains distinctive for blending a polished design with user-friendly tech and a comfort-focused driving experience.
