New & Used 2027 Kia Seltos for Sale nearChicago, IL

Is the 2027 Kia Seltos a good car?

The 2027 Kia Seltos earns an 8.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

It stands out as a redesigned small SUV with stylish design, a roomy interior, and a cargo area that makes it feel more practical than its size suggests. It also brings advanced infotainment and safety tech, which helps it feel more modern and raises the bar for the segment.

The trade-offs are clear: the standard engine is sluggish, the ride can feel soft and springy at times, and it lacks standard blind-spot warning. Even so, the overall package makes it a strong fit if you want space, style, and features in a small SUV.

Good and great deals account for 35.1% of listings, which gives you a decent amount of market choice.

Is the 2027 Kia Seltos reliable?

The 2027 Kia Seltos is presented as a brand-new model with a generous warranty package, including a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, a five-year/60,000-mile standard warranty, and five-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance coverage. The expert assessment also points to a solid overall package, with the redesigned Seltos bringing more substance behind its styling and a more modern feature set.

Its powertrain is described as adequate for typical small-SUV use, but the standard setup is also called slow when merging, passing, or climbing hills, and the CVT can get noisy under load. Kia’s complimentary three-year Kia Connect Ultimate plan adds some ownership value, including connected safety and convenience features.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the standard powertrain may feel strained in everyday driving, so condition and maintenance history matter more than headline features.

What should I look for when buying a used 2027 Kia Seltos?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with the available AWD hardware. Pay close attention to how the transmission behaves, whether the ride feels composed, and whether the cabin electronics and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX trim level lacks blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, so you should pay close attention to feature gaps if you’re comparing it with the S trim and above. The Seltos S is the recommended upgrade because it adds a safer-feeling equipment mix, including safe-exit warning.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder with CVT makes 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, and it can feel slow when merging, passing, or climbing hills. The X-Line SX uses a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic and torque-vectoring AWD.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking with intersection turning assist, front and rear parking sensors, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control are standard. The base LX does not get blind-spot monitoring or rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The standard infotainment touchscreen is 12.3 inches, and the system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Kia Connect connected services. The panoramic display setup also includes a digital instrument panel and a climate panel on higher-spec versions.
• Fuel efficiency: The X-Line SX is rated at 26 mpg in combined city and highway driving, and it averaged 26.5 mpg on the test route.

Which 2027 Kia Seltos trim should I buy?

The 2027 Kia Seltos is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, X-Line S, and X-Line SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it leaves out blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, so it makes the least sense if safety tech matters to you.
• S: This is the best-value trim because it adds the safety equipment Kia leaves off the LX, including safe-exit warning, while keeping the Seltos’ core appeal intact.
• EX: This trim is the step-up choice if you want more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the more expensive X-Line models.
• X-Line S: This trim adds standard AWD, which may be the right move if you want more traction and a more capable-feeling setup.
• X-Line SX: This is the most powerful and most feature-rich version, with the turbocharged engine and the most upscale equipment, but it is also the priciest.

For safety-package reasons, the LX is the trim to skip if you want the most complete standard driver-assistance setup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2027 Kia Seltos?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have enough inventory to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Clean inventory: 96.6% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2027 Kia Seltos safe?

The 2027 Kia Seltos does not yet have published crash-test ratings from IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Seltos comes with a generous standard driver-assistance suite that includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking with intersection turning assist, front and rear parking sensors, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control. Kia’s Highway Driving Assist is available with the Prestige Package on the X-Line SX, and that package also adds a camera-based blind-spot monitor, surround-view camera system, additional side parking sensors, and rear automatic braking.

The main caveat is that the base LX trim does not get blind-spot monitoring or rear cross-traffic alert, so you should plan on moving up a trim if those features matter to you.

Should I buy a 2027 Kia Seltos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2027 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2027 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The redesigned Seltos brings a roomier cabin, stronger styling, and more advanced infotainment and safety tech than before.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern Seltos, the 2027 is the one to target because it delivers the redesign, the upgraded cabin, and the strongest tech story. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can still shop the market carefully and focus on the trims that give you the best safety and feature balance without stretching to the top end.
